(66,553 posts)Bernie belongs there as much as any of them.
Yeah, he told his followers to get on board once HRC had the nomination. But he refused to drop out until the end of the primaries. That polluted the whole campaign.

(46,585 posts)Bill was working the phones, twisting arms, trying to persuade superdelegates that Obama could not win. Then in desperation they decided to go after the pledged delegates. It was a pathetic exercise in futility that fed the venom of her more rabid supporters, 25% of whom went on to vote for McCain.
JHan
(10,173 posts)compared to what we saw in 2016. And Sanders himself was demanding Superdelegates vote for him.
He mainly won CAUCUSES and it was obvious that he couldn't make up the numbers to justify the shitshow of a contested convention.. .. which we now know, thanks to the recent indictment, was a gift to the "conspirators"...
And I'd also further add
1) Hillary conceded to Obama, Sanders "endorsed" Hillary, see the difference?
2) Sanders never shut down or corrected claims that he didn't really lose the primary, he has no problem with the lie that he was robbed by the "establishment", creating divisions among progressives which have yet to be reconciled to this day.
3) Hillary proceeded to campaign hard for Obama, and they projected a very united front. It was NOTHING like we saw in 2016 with Sanders' allies continually attacking the DNC, one - Cornel West - going on to vote for fucking Jill Stein.
AtomicKitten
(46,585 posts)And the leaked DNC emails proved unequivocally the primary was rigged, confirmed by Donna Brazile.

(10,173 posts)Nice try. Don't make me explain..... this is silliness.
I love the idea of the DNC being this superpower that can alter the outcome of state-run elections. I really do.
And no he didn't campaign "tirelessly" for her. Two weeks before the election he was preoccupied with writing his book.
And Donna Brazille couldn't even get the agreements right. These talking points have been repeatedly debunked.
Not even Brazille made the kind of rigging claims you're making here.
Sanders lost the primaries, fair and square and for reasons that were easily avoidable.

(67,782 posts)....Sanders made his first appearance on Labor Day weekend more than a month later.
On the other hand, a couple of days after the 2008 convention Hillary Clinton joined Obama for a bus tour campaigning with and for him almost immediately.

(27,870 posts)Sanders, not so much. He didn't technically drop out till the convention started (they were on different timelines in 2008 and 2016). Still, that's a big difference.
StevieM
(10,500 posts)They presented other standards to argue for a win. The argument that winning the PDs is like winning the electoral college was brand new in 2008.
By 2016 it was totally clear that the winner of the PDs would get the nomination. If Bernie had won them HRC's SDs would have gone over to him, just like they did for Obama in 2016.

(46,585 posts)July 27, 2016: Trump publicly asked Russia to find Hillarys emails. They acted within hours.
-snip
On July 27, Trump calls for Russia to find Clintons missing emails. That same day after hours as the indictment notes, which strongly suggests this was after Trumps statement the hackers go after Clintons personal email.
From the indictment:
The conspirators spearphished individuals affiliated with the Clinton campaign through the summer of 2016. For example, on or about July 27, 2016, the conspirators attempted after hours to spearphish for the first time email accounts at a domain hosted by a third-party provider and used by Clintons personal office. At or around the same time, they also targeted seventy-six email addresses at the domain for the Clinton campaign.

(10,173 posts)A widespread problem across government departments was the original issue leading to such a choice. Which should have been the focus, instead dysfunction across departments became a Hillary Clinton scandal.
It is worryingly commonplace for government officials to flout department guidelines when it comes to compliance. Look at government IT audits regarding IT non-compliance and the extent of it will boggle your mind and outrage you if you really care.
Government cyberinfrastructure is archaic and insecure. When Hillary asked for a secure blackberry during her confirmation hearing for Sec of State, she was denied one - probably explains why she went through so many blackberry devices. Her predecessors also flouted department guidelines. Instead of examining systemic weaknesses which resulted in so many officials regularly flouting guidelines, INCLUDING COMEY WHO INVESTIGATED HER, it became all about Hillary.
It is why the FBI investigation came to zilch, nill. And anyone still pushing #ButHerEmails unironically is pushing ridiculously antagonistic anti-Hillary spin based on zero facts.
