The difference between Nixon and trump

Lots of comparisons are floating out there between Nixon and trump and paying people off to be quiet.

There's a huge difference, though.

In discussing the McDougall payoff, trump was eager to do it and even use cash. On the other hand Nixon followed up the discussion about getting payoff money with "but it would be wrong".

Actually, I think the tapes revealed that Nixon did not follow up with "but it would be wrong." After John Dean's testimony on that meeting, Nixon acknowledged that he said (regarding payoffs) "We could come up with a million, and we could get it in cash." And then he remembered piously saying "But it would be wrong." Dean's notes, Dean's memory, and the actual tapes told a different story.

But I get your point. As much as I hated Nixon at the time, I would take four of him in a row over that mango-colored infant.
