Ohio GOP bill may bar teachers from penalizing students who give creationist answers to questions about evolution.
The bill states that teachers "shall not 'prohibit a student from engaging in religious expression in the completion of homework, artwork, or other written or oral assignments' and shall not penalize or reward a student based on the religious content of a students work.
..."this clause could restrict biology teachers from docking points off students who say that the Earth was created just thousands of years ago."

The bill's co-sponsor differs but the bill's text is fairly clear. Could this turn into another 1925 Scopes Monkey Trial if challenged?

On their home page, if flat out states that We believe that Adam and Eve were the founders of the entire human race. (Possible slight paraphrase). They have a strong biology program - lab science major, etc. I would love to sit in on one of those classes and ask the professor how Adam and Eve managed to give rise to all human beings without Eve committing incest with her sons.
Answer me that, fundies!

Speech students would have a new vocabulary to learn:
And as for physical ed students:

Personally, I am a follower of the The Universal Church Triumphant of the Apathetic Agnostic, mostly because I love their motto: "We don't know, and we don't care." I'm thinking of buying one of their tee shirts: https://www.cafepress.com/mf/9797359/uctaa-black_tshirt?shop=uctaa&productId=38991336
Unfortunately, the UCTAA does not have a creation myth since they believe in science, so I had to find another one to use.

...when did they drift back into the Middle Ages?
"...the Earth was created just thousands of years ago."
...this doesn't bode well for future scientists and engineers coming from Ohio...
...there's always China...

(82,383 posts)if the subject is evolution, they can still learn the theory without being required to believe it.
I can learn about what Muslims believe without becoming a Muslim.
This is the mind of right-wingers. They really think that if the kid learns about evolution, he'll believe it. Therefore, the solution is not to be taught about it.
