we use Amazon more and more for run-of-the-mill-type items (e.g. dishwashing soap, laundry, detergent, dog food, shampoo, etc) than using Walmart and grocery stores. Amazon has a program where you can schedule them on a regular, pre-determined basis. It's a great program, but it also means you get lots of deliveries. It's been particularly helpful during the pandemic.

I was chatting with our mailman last week, and he was telling me how many of his addresses are similar to us in that they receive tons of packages; therefore, he has to get out of his vehicle and take a box (often heavy) to the porch. The days of just throwing mail in a mailbox are over. It's a much more physical job than the old days.

So...mail personnel need a raise! Add a few pennies to stamps and charge more for parcels. Given that USPS delivers more of our packages than UPS and FedEx combined, my guess is USPS' rates are too low! Amazon is one of my company's largest customers, and I know they are hard negotiators. They throw nickels around like they were manhole covers! They've probably schooled USPS and gotten very favorable--too favorable--rates. Even dim-witted Trump has surlmised USPS isnt charging Amazon enough.

I'd love to see a revitalized USPS, where Americans appreciated it more and were willing to pay for it. Maybe some of the money cut from police departments could be redirected to our postal friends!

A lot of government agencies arent that useful, but USPS is the exception and their service is quite tangible!
