By Oliver Willis -February 3, 2021 10:15 AM
States don't have enough vaccine doses as a result of purchasing failures by the Trump administration.
On Tuesday, Rep. David McKinley (R-WV) told local officials testifying before the House Energy and Commerce Oversight Subcommittee about vaccine shortages that they should be "grateful" for Operation Warp Speed, the Trump administration program intended to promote the development and distribution of vaccines against the coronavirus.
State health officials had asked Congress for more funding for the rollout of the vaccine, citing problems in getting doses to marginalized communities. States have reported shortages of vaccine stemming from the Trump administration's decision to turn down purchases of millions of doses, which Pfizer then sold to other countries.
But McKinley praised Operation Warp Speed and said, "Complaining about not getting enough vaccine is like complaining about the size of your meal. You should be grateful to have food on the table."

(54,506 posts)Grateful for WHAT vaccine? Those doses that covered 1.74% of the people in my state?
That's not Warp Speed, that's Wimp Speed.

Why cant they figure out that doing the right thing will guarantee their reelection quicker than bribes and payoffs?

(54,506 posts)Bribes and payoffs involve fancy dinner dates and parties. It's called the path of least resistance.

(12,904 posts)Maybe just me, but the whole dinner party with bribes life seems like a terrible bore. More like work, than work.
Seems a very sad, empty life.
Just me, I guess.

Still not happening?
Maybe putting a conflicted tri-state slumlord in charge of logistics wasn't such a great idea? Ya' think?

(50,331 posts)their first dose, but can't schedule their second dose within the proper time frame. One person complained there was a 90 day lag before their second appointment. I've been vaccine shy since my horrible experience with the flu vaccine last fall and had kind of decided to wait for the 1 dose J & J vaccine. One dose overall seems to make much more sense for the goal of getting everyone properly vaccinated.
