during the Impeachment trial for the one term, twice impeached insurrectionist in chief?
I made chocolate/coffee/rum fudge with chopped pecans for the really sweet moments
I'll be making hot jerk chicken and corn soup with diced potatoes, carrots and celery for the spicy moments.
I've already stocked up with a variety of nuts for the RW nut jobs. My calendar is clear.

Also consider peach preserves that might be used in dishes.
Some markets manage to get peaches off-season, grown in southern Mexico, Central or South America where it's summer now, though they ever taste as good.
My grandma had a peach orchard so I got spoiled on those fresh-picked peaches. I have a single peach tree now, Red Baron variety, the best.

(15,033 posts)Course I get the fresh ones in season in our tri-State area or trucked over from warmer States.
You have a peach tree? So nice. 🙂
Crop trees are amazing! 🥰 I have gone apple picking.

(22,292 posts)We have mass quantities of almonds, pecans and walnuts (Costco size ) I could toast some with savory seasonings and sweet. My mom used to make really good cinnamon sugar pecans
I have everything I need to make Mulligatawny soup, and I am always prepared to make various types of dried beans.
I have to monitor the sweets due to my husband's diabetes though

I live in NJ, markets import from all over the world, so everything's 'in season' all the time here. Considering there's a couple of feet of snow on the ground right now, anything we can get is fair game. Thanks for giving me another research project....what did people in NJ eat during the winters before imports? I know of root cellars, but there must be much more.
Always curious...

(15,033 posts)I was a very picky eater till my early teens then slowly, then faster evolved by my mid late teens.
So idk finally tried them in my 20's? We'd get more of the bigger lighter green smooth ones than the Haas in our area for a pretty long time. They weren't that tasty.
But when I got to finally try the Haas ones? Yippie.
When my mom lived on California before she got married they had an avocado tree in the backyard of the house she shared w roommates. So she introduced them to me. She died almost 13 years ago - I think I ended up eating avocadoes practically every day for practically a whole year after she passed.
It's great for some decades we get th Haas ones usually quite easily. 🤔 I think I'll go up the current varieties! 👍
ETA:
Wow, at least 15 varieties in the visual charts I'm seeing.
Ha! One chart seems to have. 75 varieties!
I guess I shouldn't be surprised because I know certain veggies, and fruits have a lot of varieties.
🤔
I think maybe at the most I might have seen 3 types for a vary short time. Usually it's only been 2 for decades!

too. much cold slippery stuff after much of the snow was finally shoveled to the sides of the curb leaving half of the sidewalk nice, dry and clean, and only a little mess of the corners. .
Hopefully I'll get some for days 2 or 3 if it's cleaned up enough.
I'm not cooking these days just assembling stuff, or getting Chinese takeout.
So one fun thing is Sabra's Guacamole (I have made my own) along with 'a touch of lime' Tostados. 👍
Also separately - sour cream which I add powdered garlic onto crackers.
And I may still have some lo mein w roast pork left to finish off.

(2,614 posts)They were not teaching me anything new. I hoped that it wouldn't involve logging meals because I find that very tiresome - especially when you make stews, and soups and dishes that have several ingredients. I use my My Fitness Pal or Fat Secret for free.
I recently bought a rower and started with that. Before the cold weather I was walking four miles a day and using my Fitbit. My fitbit broke and it was a filthy liar anyway. It didn't register floors climbed and cheated on steps ( I counted.)Before Covid I belonged to a gym and went for HIIT training three times a week. For a period I had a personal trainer and I was ripped! The main problem is being home most of the time and having easy access to the kitchen - it's the winter doldrums.
Currently I go for physical therapy for shoulder calcification and tennis elbow (don't know how I got that one). The therapist knows me and slips in a bit of weight training too. The orthopedist just gave me the go ahead to use the rower on Friday.
I'm only 5'2" so 15 pounds is a LOT of blubber!
My husband does the shopping and he brings home all kinds of junk that at this point I struggle to resist.
Confession over - I feel cleansed! Ahhhh........

(43,778 posts)https://mumsmumsmums.wordpress.com/2018/11/26/jerusalem-artichoke-cappuccino-with-bacon-sable/
A starter served in a coffee cup. With a milk foam topping and brown sprinkles. Accompanied by a cookie. And the illusion of a cup of cappuccino is perfect.
Peel and chop Jerusalem artichokes and potatoes (half-half) as well as garlic and shallots. Fry the garlic and shallots in some olive oil. Season with salt. Add the Jerusalem artichokes and potatoes as well as some white wine and cover with water. Simmer until tender. Puree and strain through a fine sieve. Add some sheep milk and crème fraîche for a smooth texture.
Mix 0.5 dl hazelnut flour with 0.5 dl spelt flour and 0.25 dl grated Parmesan cheese. Add 1 tsp cumin. Knead in 25 g butter. Place in the fridge for at least 30 minutes prior to baking. Chop and fry bacon lightly as it will continue to bake in the oven. Form the dough into ten coin shaped cookies. Sprinkle with the bacon and bake for 6 minutes at 200°C.
Serve the soup in cappuccino cups with foamed sheep milk and grated nutmeg on top and the bacon shortbread cookies on the side.
