My best friend of nearly 35 years who lives a few states away has gone from the annoying Republican who I could enjoy a debate with, to an all-out my vote was stolen, anti-science, angry, conspiracy theorist. This is the week we usually would be vacationing together in a tropical location, but that was cancelled. We are supposed to be together this summer for a week as part of a larger group, but I am trying to figure out a way to get out of it. She's now going down the anti-vax path, and I just can't. I am grieving the loss of my friend. How have others dealt with this?

(24,801 posts)or minimize the amount of time I spend with them!
Either ways results in awkward superficiality!
I sure hope things return to "normal" some day!

(488 posts)The kind of friends you know well enough to share anything with, are a R-Trumper and an I-Trumper.
We have agreed to have a text link with the three of us where we can post political stuff, supposed to be mostly funny, without any hard feelings. Keep the crap there and remain friends.
