8. It was the Daily Beast's freedom of speech/press that Bongino sought to suppress with his lawsuit.

That's why the Daily Beast got attorneys fees. Bongino's suit was found to be a meritless SLAPP suit designed to muzzle speech/public participation in our democracy. The prevailing defendant in such a suit gets attorneys fees, unlike typical civil suits where each side is responsible for their own attorney's fees.
