Do not be disheartened by Lindsey telling trump that he will be acquitted.
Do not let it darken your day for even a second.
What those marvelous house managers have done is present the truth in a form people find easier to digest these days.
The truth is getting out there,
Trump will always be impeached twice.
He most likely (and we never know, who saw Cassidy coming on board yesterday), will get off.. but what is being presented cannot be erased from the average voters minds.
2022 we will start to take back the states..
The GQP state parties have been taken over by trumpies and they also will pay a price.
We will hound Trump forever, every time he turns around, he will find himself in some court somewhere. We have him in the barrel..

(67,112 posts)It is very disheartening, but I know there are better people in the world than these fools we have. As someone else said, those siding with Trump are co-conspirators, and is that ever true.

(21,799 posts)on Hitler's trial for the Beerhall Putsch. Very similar to today's Republicans in this trial.
Hitler's judge was noticeably sympathetic and allowed him to give an extensive speech about how he was an innocent patriot but the government was guilty of not protecting Germany from its enemies. Spectators and attorneys were siding with Hitler. His sentence was a slap on the wrist - small fine and 5 years, with a promise of probably not serving all of it.
Hitler was released after 9 months. He was treated like royalty by prison guards who openly admired him.
He met up with his thugs after his release and resumed his activities toward taking over the country, with better strategic planning.

(21,799 posts)who is presiding over the Senate trial is a Dem who is not enamored of Trump. But the jury of Senators who will decide guilt and sentence, if any, are on Trump's side.

(22,881 posts)maybe they will start to realize their own careers are in peril.. but even if they don't.. if they acquit Trump.. the stench of all of this will stick to them forever if they do acquit.
My f***ing senators (TX) are happily rolling in the pile of crap and luxuriating in the stench.

(1,856 posts)I do understand why so many, here and on msm , say he won't be convicted based on the GOPQ behavior, but I think it's possible. Let's emulate 45 in this (lol) and invoke the power of positive thought. Hopefully our positive thoughts can trrump his.
I've also said several times that if 10 of them stay home for the vote, to avoid going on record, then we only need 10 to join the Dems to convict. All things are possible!

(34,552 posts)and skips the vote because it's not 2/3 of the total Senate, it's 2/3 of the Senators who are present for the vote or that there's a secret ballot like the House GQP did with Cheney. They're in too deep to do otherwise.

(22,881 posts)maybe not the way you want in a swift sweep.. but he did not get a second term, he has been impeached twice, and now the house managers are exposing what he did in such a way it is starting to cut through to those who are deep in the cult.. we do not have to bring everyone back to the light.. we just have to expose them for what they are..

(471 posts)... however, we can not only continue to put pressure on trump...
... use this as pressure on each of the repubs who continues to support that dreadful man...
... how anyone can ignore the events/facts and nod their head with approval is beyond me ...
... if they are staying with trump because they're afraid of him; wouldn't it be in their best interest to muzzle/minimize his power???
... I just simply don't understand....

It's thoughtful, serious Senators putting the nation's future foremost.

(32,917 posts)The Repukes must vote on the record, just as they did on the first impeachment.
Any Repuke who votes to convict Chump, will most likely lose to a Democratic opponent in their next election. Any Repuke who votes to exonerate Chump will most likely be primaried in their next election. (Some won't care, but if you ask me they're all vulnerable in one way or another.)
The truth is that NO GOP INCUMBENT DESERVES TO BE RE-ELECTED. Not one.

(6,621 posts)I'm taking his acquittal as a foregone conclusion, given how corrupt the GOP has become.
I've come to realize that it is folly to count on the government to deliver justice for me, for us.

(9,776 posts)substantial price for at least one for his many crimes. And it ought to be for this incitement of violent insurrectionists in his coup attempt.
But, I'd rather see him unable to become POTUS again because he's in jail for the rest of his life rather than because the Senate convicts & bans him.
Though, both would be preferable.

(2,224 posts)That's it. There is no wiggle room on this.
Those who fail to vote to convict approve of Trump's insurrectionist storming of the Capitol and may even be a co-conspirator. Period.
Unfortunately that is a "with us or against us" attitude but that's how this treasonous scum needs to be dealt with. They need "traitor" tattooed across their foreheads in a political (and legal) way.
