Kentucky Newspaper Says McConnell Wont Save His Beloved Legacy After Voting to Acquit Trump
In a piece for The Lexington Herald-Leader, op-ed columnist Linda Blackford criticized Senate Minority Leader Mitch McConnell (R-Ky.) for voting to acquit former President Donald Trump for inciting an insurrection against Congress, writing that his speeches wont save his beloved legacy.
Let him try, along with whatever machinations hes got up his sleeve as the new minority leader, while President Biden and Congress work toward healing the country, both literally and figuratively with vaccinations, COVID relief, a minimum wage increase and a bold plan to ease child poverty, she continued. Its the kind of action that Mitch McConnell has upended, diluted and blocked his entire career in his quest for personal power. The good of the country has always come in second to the good of Mitch McConnell.

(25,782 posts)If you announce your retirement for Jan 2023 or Jan 2025, in time for the even year primaries filing period for 2022 or 2024, it will go to an election to fill an unexpired term. There will not be a vacancy, so there will be no appointment.

Which is something I wish everyone would do, at ever opportunity. Even if you're talking about Mitch Hedberg or Mitch Miller.

(5,446 posts)because the GOP has now completely shifted to a party concerned about social change and not economics-- basically they want few changes over America as it existed before the 60's. Why? They want nothing to do with any expansion of equality. There is also a very bad case of envy for those they perceive getting more government help than they are.
