Maybe it has been said before
We really need to pay attention to climate change. I am listening to geology and history documentaries on You Tube. A lot of the most long-lasting empires fell because of climate change. There was a general collapse of Middle eastern civilizations in the 1200's BC. As the area recovered, new gods replaced the old pantheons. The Minoan empire collapsed, probably right after the eruption of the volcano on Thera, which caused a volcanic winter. There was a huge volcanic eruption in the 530s AD, which toppled the Roman Empire, caused massive migrations from Eastern countries to Europe, displacing Germanic and other peoples into western territory. The Mayan civilization also declined at this time.
All I'm saying is that it is not only the horrific loss of species and diversity, but also the human toll. Not just displacement, starvation and death, but also the sweeping away of everything our civilization has been built upon. We got a lot further along since the last climate disruption, but the failure in Texas points out how fragile our "advanced" life style really is.
