N.J. cops are still arresting people for weed. Police say they won’t stop until legal marijuana is official.

The college student knew she wasn’t going to make the light. The 19-year-old freshman tried anyway, gunning the engine Nov. 17 to beat a traffic signal in front of the Mennen Sports Arena. A Morris County Park Police officer was right there waiting, watching from the arena’s parking lot in Morris Township.

He pulled her over and almost instantly said the car smelled like marijuana, according to the student, who did not wish to be identified because her case is still pending. The officer then searched the car.

He found 3 grams of weed, a bong and rolling papers. The woman was arrested and charged with possession of marijuana under 50 grams, drug paraphernalia and other minor violations, including running the red light.

The student — like thousands of others charged with low-level marijuana possession — found herself stuck in limbo as the fate of legal weed in New Jersey looms.

across the river from a Washington town with legal shops. It's amazing, but we see no arrests in the paper for weed.

I'd like to know if some of the cops wanted to set up surveillance of the shops and try and stop people coming back across the border. I suppose the cops over there would tell them to shove it!

And I agree 100%. They can't bust you if you are holding.

I'll tell you what do to....

Stop jerking yourselves off and tell your officers to stop issuing summons that are going to be dismissed.

The officer claims he smelled the marijuana, so regardless of the possession charge, she probably would have been charged with something.
