(20,259 posts)The development was originally we built in the 1920s (whites only) and there are some pretty old houses. I wouldn't be surprised if that window unit is for someone's home office. My dad used to keep his office like a meat locker.
Joel Osteen lives in River Oaks too.

(5,857 posts)although I have seen a few window units or spilt systems in home offices (in addition to the central hvac). If they want to cool that room at different times or its an extension it maybe needed.

(4,483 posts)My husband and I sleep in one of the three bedrooms. We turn off the central air at night--why cool the whole house when only one room needs to be cooled?--and when we have overnight guests, they can have their bedroom at the temperature they prefer.

(14,749 posts)My daughter in Boulder has a house with three levels and the upper bedroom is hot in the summer and the bottom bedroom is cold.It is the opposite in the winter. They should have two separate units but they do not.

(14,749 posts)achieved snobbery. Although there are many second homes in RO of rich middle East oil potentates that have walls around them. They are seldom for sale and even his ill gotten gains are not enough to buy them.

There was trouble on the rise
It was nothing more than Id left behind
Which was much to my surprise
I turned around and lit a cigarette
Wiped the dust off of my boots
When up ahead I saw the crowd
I knew it was no use

(7,289 posts)Not familiar with this particular piece.
I wonder if it is associated with a particular song or dance symbolizing something relative to the resident skum bag occupying a seat he doesn't deserve?
Regardless, Carry On! and Bravo!
Sur Zobra
(3,428 posts)of that particular piece, but it is a standard song played by Mariachi groups. This group probably played other standards in the Mariachi repertoire while at Cancun Cruzs house

(7,289 posts)using music in demonstrations which I completely support and encourage. It's a way of demonstrating protest of whatever issue(s) en masse, which is sans violence or enticement of violence. I think it's helpful to think creatively when a call for action to express our displeasure or anger toward a system, or individuals in power for their abuse of office an unjust system.
All that to say, i am inspired by Mariachi bands and other musicians leading the charge!

(14,613 posts)This is cute, but in all seriousness, Cruz is a traitor who should not only be expelled from the Senate for his role in the January 6 Trump coup attempt, but should also be facing criminal charges.
At the very least, perhaps his little trip down to Cancun and subsquent throwing of his own daughters under the bus should cause him to LOSE next time he's up for reelection clear out in 2024.

Lots of families scratch and save to have them for a special occasion.
Heck even to have them play a tune at a Mexican restaurant ain't cheap.
Ted Cruz does not deserve mariachis.
Hey deserves this:
