Why I hate public money going to private schools — instead of a place where everybody mixes and more or less learns to get along, your neighborhood school becomes the place of last resort for those too poor to pay tuition and buy a uniform, too odd to fit in, handicapped in one way or another, misbehaving due to hunger, ADD, dyslexia, sadness. Private schools can pick and choose, and they don’t have to take any kid who doesn’t fit in with their plan.
