Thank you for refreshing our memory; this explains at least some of his motivation for manipulating frustration within this party.

The only viable solution is to elect more centrist or center/left Democratic Senators in other States.

I have never needed an epipen. The allergist freaked me out when he insisted I get one and then every so often the nurse would check it and tell me I had to get another one because it was out of date. I personally think that was bullshit. But having one around seems like a good idea since I already have it.

I would question her privileged influence on his decisions......

(54,094 posts)How is "peacocking" (I love this phrase, btw) over a future election four years away over a single cabinet position that no one will remember a sleeker, simpler explanation than politically avenging his daughter's reputation?
If anything, this is hitting two birds with one stone.

"Peacocking"!!! REALLY lends a mental picture to it. You can just visualize it - and it's EXACTLY what these jerks are doing. I LOVE it!

(29,322 posts)Is if there is one thing progressives, Manchin, and Republicans agree on it is no to Neera Tanden.
I would oppose Tanden for different reasons such as this.

From what I understand Sanders had long conversations with Tanden so she probably addressed many of his concerns including in the confirmation hearing.
I do find it odd Manchin voted for Kavanaugh, Barr, and Jeff Sessions but doesn't want Tanden.
Progressives call out Joe Manchin for double standard: He backed openly racist Jeff Sessions
House Democrats grew increasingly frustrated with Sen. Joe Manchin, D-W.V., this week as he began to emerge as a key roadblock to some of President Joe Biden's Cabinet appointments and stimulus negotiations.
The centrist Democrat has wielded a disproportionate amount of power in the evenly divided Senate during Biden's early days in office, siding with Republicans in certain confirmation battles and legislative issues. Manchin's spokesman told NBC News on Monday that he is undecided on whether to back the confirmation of Rep. Deb Haaland, D-N.M., who would become the first Native American to head the Interior Department. Manchin, who chairs the Senate Energy Committee, previously told E&E News that Haaland "has a little bid different agenda than us" and pushed back on her plan to enact Biden's proposed ban on fracking on public lands.
The latest comments drew a rebuke from Rep. Alexandria Ocasio-Cortez, who noted that Manchin was the only Democrat to support Donald Trump's original attorney general, Jeff Sessions.
"Jeff Sessions was so openly racist that even Reagan couldn't appoint him," she tweeted. "Manchin voted to confirm him. Sessions then targeted immigrant children for wide-scale human rights abuses w/ family separation. Yet the 1st Native woman to be Cabinet Sec is where Manchin finds unease?"

(1,723 posts)He does not seem to have Democratic values. He must be loving the position he is in right now, needed by the Dems. I wonder how much he is trying to squeeze out of them.
Tommymac
(7,263 posts)He votes with the Dem's a little over 50% of the time.
I'd rather have that then have a Qthug who would vote with us 0% of the time.
Manchin can be played - President Joe knows him well and IO believe he can and will keep him under enough control on the legislation that REALLY matters.

(11,580 posts)Well, I can start by suggesting that her apparent greed and gouging are not what we'd hope for in the best traditions of the party.
Perhaps she is a product of upbringing? That's possible, but obviously, I don't know. I will say that I'm not overwhelmingly enthusiastic about their work up to now.
