what evidence the investigation has turned up.

If cell phone presence can tell us who was there for the riot, can we also tell which of those riot participants also took a tour in the days before January 6th? And whether that coincides with hotel records showing they were in town several days early?

You move for SJ to see what evidence the other side has. Plain and simple. If the judge doesn't side with you, you've got a better idea how to proceed in trial.

They might want to know who may be already implicated and could be under surveillance.

Lots of arrests and many on serious charges. They are trying to find out if any of them are subjects of investigation.

Possibly involving sitting members of Congress?
I could see investigators or prosecutors wanting to keep secrets that might pollute a jury pool.
Just speculating.

his convictions were tossed out due to the public hearings that were Iran Contra. After that it has become a de facto choice. You either have public hearings or you have prosecution, you can't have both.

Put Boebert under oath.
The Capitol had been closed to visitors for a long time due to covid.
