Video Captures Deputy In Texas Punching Teen Who Had Been Riding ATV

https://dfw.cbslocal.com/2021/04/05/video-texas-deputy-punching-teen-riding-atv/

As the teens approached a gas station to fuel up, they saw a Harris County Sheriff’s deputy, who has a frequent presence at the location.

The video shows the deputy, with a drink in his hand, walk out of the gas station and approach the teenager. He then puts his drink down on the boy’s ATV and asks to see his license.

“He just looked at my ID for like two seconds and said to put my hands behind my back,” the teen said. “That’s when I panicked a little and pulled away from him and he grabbed me.”

As the deputy grabbed the teen, he is heard screaming and cursing on video.

“Don’t run from me boy, I will beat your (expletive) right here,” the deputy said. “Turn around and put your hands behind your back before I beat the (expletive) out of you. Don’t be (expletive) stupid!”

----------

The Harris County Sheriff’s Department said it has begun an internal affairs investigation. The deputy has not been identified.

I don’t know what the ATV riders did, but one wonders if they were licensed vehicles or maybe trespassing.

Would've thought Texas would've been more lax than that. Certainly where they were driving it didn't seem like a big deal. Wouldn't surprise me if they hadn't done that dozens of times before without a problem.

If I had a lawyer I'd argue the shoulder of the road doesn't qualify as a street and that this is common practice in Harris County (it probably is).

Anything on the street needs insurance, registration, etc. I’m betting that guy had none of that, nor a license plate.

the entire time. The cop is coming out of the gas station as they arrive, so not sure he knows how they arrived. Seems driving on the sidewalk would be kind of dangerous to pedestrians though.

The cop is grabbing his coat tightly, pulling him, those arm motions are not the motions of someone resisting, they're the motions of a scared kid that's rag-dolling. Then the cop violently grabs his wrist and he pulls away because that is painful.

How about you be standing around and I grab your coat and twist you around pressing my body up against you and we see where your arms flail in mere seconds? Presume I have 150 pounds on you body mass wise, as well.

We are seeing completely different videos.

Tearing up farm fields and orchards is common down here in Miami-Dade county in South Florida.

We growers are sick and tired of it.

If that kid took off running he'd have no chance catching him, being so out of weight, then his buddy could've pulled off on the ATV and picked him up. Stupid violent insecure cops. Simple talking to would've sufficed. Told 'em the rules that they can't drive the ATV on the street. EZ. But cops are so scared and paranoid over every little encounter, it's insane.

Absolutely! He was walking toward the teen like he had a mission to complete. I have a feeling that even if the kid had been compliant, he was going to end up suffering some kind of abuse regardless.

He can crash at my place if he promises to do the same to the juvenile delinquents that have transformed the streets and vacant lots around my area into an ATV park.

I've had to put up a 25K chain link fence to protect my grove.

Row crop farmers are getting hit hard too.

And you can set your watch at 4:30 pm when they decide to running lights and going against traffic on US 1...

No sympathy from me...

And I have 3 motorcycles so I know what they're about...
