That is some abstract employment of English right there. They did use "whereby" though so I can see why it makes no sense.

Like when cargo cults built straw planes to simulate the planes that dropped supplies, but it is my understanding that even the cargo cults didn't think the planes would actually fly.

not particular smart and moderately paranoid. They used the court system and their own delusional version of the Constitution and the common law to grift and get even with people who were out to get them.

Before it became serious, before the Capitol attack, covid, the Roberts Court, Citizens United, Trump, all of that. It was one of my favorite websites of the 1990s.
