(16,656 posts)I don't have any artifacts from the campaign, but I remember how electrifying it was when he chose Ferraro as his running mate.
Tbh, I never would have believed it would be another 36 years before we actually got a woman veep elected, but my memories of 1984 made the Biden Harris victory all the more meaningful to me!

WELL, MY TIME HAS COME. Heres the email Walter Mondale sent 300+ staffers and associates over the weekend. He noted how he looked forward to seeing his late wife, Joan, and late daughter, Eleanor. Never has a public servant had a better group of people working at their side!
(more included in his email--see photo)

(67,841 posts)Walter Mondale will be missed. But the fact of the matter is, he, like every luminary before him who lived to a ripe old age, was largely off the world stage and of only nostalgic consequence.
The finality of it makes it hurt. We truly feel it. We will miss him.

(14,501 posts)and peace be upon your family in these times.
I always loved his and President Carter's calm, reassuring voices when addressing the nation or during interviews. Proud to have voted for them.
