Racist cops yell to residents Blue Lives Matter after they murdered 15 year old Makiyah Bryant, shooting her 5 times in the chest today after she called them for help. Yes, racism is systemic and its in all police depts.

(14,613 posts)I said there was a lot of gray in the actual shooting, which there was. That girl in pink might have had her life saved, but the cop fired five shots pretty much right after he got out of the car, which is excessive.
But this behavior by these police is way, way, way out of bounds. These are racist cops. The racism must stop.
Yeah, no words. Just a sick feeling about how very far we have still to go.

(18,486 posts)But aside from that, what evidence do we have that they would shoot a Black child without justification?

(18,486 posts)Police officers gloating that way evidence a mindset and a culture that cannot be separated from how they respond to Black people in tense situations.

(6,011 posts)What I did see was that girl with the knife going after two different women in that brawl.
The woman she had pinned on the car was the first to approach the cop when he walked up.
Then the shit hit the fan, and she was dragged into it. She was lucky not to take a round or two herself, being that close.
This is a tragic mess.

(90,378 posts)... taunting people with a contextually racist assed slogan.
Policing, like being an airline pilot, has to be disciplined and perfect and not taunt people with stupid bullshit.

(54,770 posts)Back when the George Floyd protests were at their height, my red/rube area sent around a neighborhood email to put blue lights outside our houses to show our support.
I wrote back that while I generally support the police I was not going to do anything that might take away from the BLM movement because I support it. In fact, I said I would do it if we started with a black light. Some of my neighbors still look mad when I go by, which is fine with me.
Point is, any police doing that kind of crud need to be disciplined and likely fired.

(1,303 posts)Those are some seriously dumb fucks out there shouting about their rights, no doubt forgetting their oaths and job responsibilities, and doubtless nor for the first time.
Who do they think pays their inflated salaries? They will of course turn to their "union" for an answer, but unless this is the most unusual "police force" in the country, their wages come from taxes on their victim and other citizens and they are sworn to protect those same citizens. "Blue rights," my ass!

(2,053 posts)this thread has 2 different timelines going. The OP was about the police securing the scene and the statements made by them which were bullshit and should be investigated. That's what this thread was about. But just like the situation it evolved into something else with the youtube video.
The second is with the youtube video. As to the video of the tragic incident, I ask anyone on here to walk into that situation themselves what they would do. Who was the asshole who kicked the one woman in the head in front of a cop who had a gun drawn which drew the cops attention momentarily away from someone with a knife. The officer was trying to understand this volatile situation, who is a danger and who is in danger. I can hardly figure it out watching the video several times.
This is an absolute tragedy that gets played out every day, every week, every month in this country. When are we ALL going to grow up, quit blaming, and work towards solutions. This cancer of killing, race driven, suicide driven, police driven, irrational emotion driven, economic driven, when will we as a people crawl out of our little fragile shells of our personal ego's and wake up.

(11,438 posts)with the community following this tragic shooting. Completely wrong. Second point -- there is no way this shooting comes even close to being 'murder' -- and casually tossing that term around serves absolutely no purpose. Also -- completely wrong.

(90,378 posts)... that doesn't help build the community up than a rando who could have the situation wrong.
Yes, like airline pilots police have to show a high level of operation and discipline to the jobs
