Professor Alan Dershowitz is focusing his attention on freedom of speech. The progressive left has an attitude and theyre justifying a pattern of silencing opposing viewpoints because they believe they are correct.
-snip-
As an attorney, Dershowitz also shares his thoughts on the Chauvin verdict.
This was a manslaughter case
those two [murder] charges should have never been brought, he says.
He believes the jury wasnt sequestered in time and politicians like Maxine Waters and Joe Biden had a direct influence on the verdict. There was no way the jurors werent aware of the looming threat of violence.

Keep your shorts on and your mouth shut Dershowitz before you make a bigger fool of yourself.

He barely ever was. What credibility he ever had was squandered long ago.

(7,263 posts)Tried to read his auto biography - made it about 20 pages in, then realized how in love with himself he is and tossed it in the trash.
Usually I share books but that one was really really really bad.
I don't care how brilliant he thinks he is, he is a moron.

Cleaning out a cupboard, I came across my 50 year old copy of Atlas Shrugged. Hard cover. Threw it in the garbage. Nobody needs to read those awful words again. Sorry, Paul Ryan.

(82,849 posts)Uh, Mr. Dershowitz? When you get a conviction in a criminal trial, it means the charges were justified.

(307 posts)I'd expect Dersh to relate to Chauvin.
After all, Chauvin kept his underpants on throughout the entire encounter.

(109,029 posts)most non-political people in Minnesota, which means most people, wouldn't even know who the CA Rep Maxine Waters is.
They know their own Reps, maybe, but not all the ones across the country.

(162 posts)is significant how? does he actually think he is still considered a law scholar or an expert? how this man has shrunk to insignificance.

But no one asked him. He just wants to believe they should have.

(4,041 posts)Its like the crazy DOJ claim that a sitting president cannot be charged with a crime. What cant the police do if this is ok? There was no justification for taking that mans life. Nothing Mr Floyd did justified what Chauvin did to him. Nothing. Shall we all sit down together and watch this murder take place again? Dershowitz has a broken soul, and no longer has any moral bearing.

(54,553 posts)If Chauvin had leaned on Floyd for ten seconds after hearing him say he couldn't breathe, and the gotten off only to find that he had killed him, THEN he might have limited the verdict to manslaughter.
If he leaned on him for six minutes after hearing Floyd say he couldn't breathe, and was motionless after that, at some point it evolves into deliberate action with predictably fatal consequences. That passes into a more sinister realm.
