Democrats need to confront the stone cold truth.

Republicans are never going to speak out against the Big Lie.

They are never going to be converted with facts or the truth.

Democrats cannot compromise with lies and conspiracy theories.

There is no nice way to call them bald-faced liars that are supporting an insurrection against our country.

There is no middle ground for them to stand on, so long as they cling to lies and delusions.

We are where we are.

The Republicans are never going to change until the voters change them.

In my opinion, that is the reality we are confronting.

When they show you who they are, believe them.

Give Susan Collins every cave-in she wants and she’ll still say no. Same for Lisa Murkowski most of the time.

Been there/done that and it gained us mostly nothing. I think it’s REALLY time to face the facts and move on without this ball ‘n’ chain brigade.

We should stop repeatedly knocking on a door that’s been glued shut and then abandoned before the glue was even dry. Let’s push our Dems to go it alone and get as much accomplished as possible on our own. We’ll just have that much more good stuff to brag about, AND to remind voters what we were able to do for them, by the time the next elections are happening.

Fuck the GOP. We don’t need ‘em to help get America back on its feet. And they can whine all they want, but it’s time we helped everybody realize that Republicans DON’T want to help you.

Heck, they don’t want to help ANYBODY! Except for their own selfish, greedy, short-sighted, mercenary little selves. The PEOPLE, however - the VOTERS put there, THEY are with us. And they’re from both parties. Voters want these accomplishments delivered, and that includes Republican voters.

The rise and fall of the Third Reich;

It is all there, what the game plan is and how they plan to win. The Big lie is just one part of the plan.

I’m re-reading (audio this time - I’m just too old to read the book again) the book, and the GOP will destroy this nation, Democracy to fulfill their dream of power.

I used to believe that this nation had a future; I’ve lived through so much; and at one time I believed that we could have a multicultural, multi-ethnic, multiracial and multi-religious nation that could live in harmony. I was optimistic during the Trump reign of terror that we could survive as a nation because so many people of good will voted him out of office. But post-Trump it seems apparent to me that the GOP will destroy this nation, to either put Trump back in power or a Trump clone. Even in the face of all the damage that he did to the nation, domestically and internationally. And once (if successful) they’re in power, I do believe that they will define and kill millions. I believe this, the GOP and its supporters are evil and there can be no compromise with evil.

I’m sorry that I feel this way, but sadly, very sadly I do. I do believe that history has lessons for us and we need to learn from it, good and bad. And the GOP and its supporters are evil and they show us everyday who and what they are.

Before the 1st vote is cast in a Presidential Election, the score board has X amount for R, and X amount for D.

The Census was just completed, and think about the crap that Trump did to dilute the count for the nation, for the purpose of enhancing the GOP.

There are a limited number of swing states - and where are GOP governors or state houses that are controlled by the GOP, they do not give one damn about the vote, of what the voters wants; With the new voter suppression laws that they are proposing and passing - did you notice that they are saying that ultimately the will of the voters is secondary to the dictates of the GOP? Democracy means little to nothing to the GOP.

Since Reagan the GOP base has been fed the lies that the Democratic base is evil. Apparently, we eat babies at some pizza parlor in D.C.; That Obama was born in Kenya which apparently is part of Hawaii and because it is not part of the mainland - then it's in Africa.

I remember one protest sign that said, better to be Russian than a Democrat, and to this mindset one hopes that the truth will find a willing space? The cement has already hardened and hate; hate against POC; hate against people of different sexual orientations; hate against females that have an independent thought/mindset/etc.; hate against people that have a different religion; hate against the "Other"; My friend, maybe you might be right, but post Trump - to me, that ship has sailed and it's filled with hate.

Yes, in theory people of good will, Republicans and Democrats working together can try to right the ship of State.

But, you may have noticed that the GOP is currently feasting on their own. Remember when you were in school and they taught a basic economic fact which is as I remember : That bad money chases out good money. In other words, in a world where there is a lot of counterfeit money (remember the old $100 bills), people will hoard the good money and trade/use the bad money. The GOP is emulating the bad and chasing out the good.

Trump was identified as a threat to the nation when he was running for office, yet he won. The more he lied, the more he was embraced by the GOP. There came a point when he lied so much during his presidency, that I was waiting for him to ask the GOP to commit a 'Jim Jones' for him, and I believe that a significant portion would have. Not sure if it would have been a great loss with the exception of having to bury them.

The Russian news media identified Trump as their Asset and this was not readily identified in our Media, why not, I have no idea.

I think that Trump was a 'willing' asset for Putin, this includes his family (to include the Very Intelligent speaker of five languages wife; his semi-literate son, Jr; the wanna be the first female president daughter and her lying as he breaths husband; and the albino Eric). I think that the reason the GOP leadership is so enamored with Trump is that some of them are on Putin's payroll.

It is my sincere hope that the DOJ under Garland will introduce information on the real Trump, his backdoor communications and his history of money laundering for the Russia oligarchy. I suspect that there are members of the GOP leadership that are also part of this traitors den, and since the GOP regards their first loyalty to the party, none can tell the Truth. Sort of like our problem with policing - that the good cops can't reveal information on the bad cops, so they all share in the blame.

I think that's it telling that the only book that I remember being informed about that Trump has read (or at least holds near and dear to his heart) is 'My Struggle' better known as 'Mein Kampf'. A primer for a would be dictator and purveyor of hate.

I hope and pray (as much as one can) that Garland will not turn out to be a Mueller.

Yes, the whole GOP will one day return to normal, after they have been totally rejected and destroyed as a party. And, when the TRUTH of what they are is revealed for the world to see, and I hope that we as a nation are alive to see and enjoy the TRUTH.

There is reason for hope, people like YOU.

Republicans are never going to speak out against the Big Lie.

Republicans will continue to do everything they can to push the big lie. They are ignoring and validating the 1/6 coup attempt and that says it all.

They are never going to be converted with facts or the truth.

They do not want or care about facts or truth. They want power. Period.

Democrats cannot compromise with lies and conspiracy theories.

When we try to, they then know that anything is possible.

There is no nice way to call them bald-faced liars that are supporting an insurrection against our country.

Exactly. Tell them and the country what they are. Over and over and over.

There is no middle ground for them to stand on, so long as they cling to lies and delusions.

And we need to make that position clear, dismiss them out of hand, and stick with that.

We are where we are.

Yes we sure are. It is not just a bad dream or a game.

The Republicans are never going to change until the voters change them.

All of the above. They need to be beaten, plain and simple. Nothing else will resonate.

In my opinion, that is the reality we are confronting.

Again, Word.

When they show you who they are, believe them.

We'd better....

Thank you, for posting kentuck. They are out for two things, staying in office to protect the rich. The other is self embellishment.

They seem pretty entrenched in their evil and their insanity. And it's from top to bottom - from GOP leadership to rank and file, from the octogenarians that run their party (and occasionally the country) to the young ones being indoctrinated. It's a massive problem.

Democrats have to try to be bipartisan in public because Americans say that's what they want. There's a public and a private. Like everything else.

Media is doing nothing to educate the public about their government and why it's dysfunctional. There needs to be a massive national effort to educate people and everyone has to be involved. I see a lot of blaming Democrats for what is out of their control. Elected Democrats are busy doing their jobs, they don't have their own infinitely funded media empire like Republicans do to push their agenda.

Republican voters don't even like Republicans or the few polices they still have. The voters will never change them. And there's too much Both Sides and "lesser of two evils" nonsense from elsewhere.

48. You are right, of course. And, Republican state law makers are busy rigging
Mon Apr 26, 2021, 11:18 PM

elections through election law changes as we speak. It seems to me that if they are successful in their election rigging and can take back states like Georgia, Arizona, PA, etc., in 2022, we will probably have lost our democratic process. So we need to protect our turf first. Bring challenges in the courts to strike down Republican anti-democracy laws, or at least delay implementation, and protect/defend our majorities in 2022. I think a rigorous campaign against their anti-democracy efforts could be helpful too, where we face close races and need to get enough voters to see the truth in what the Republicans are up to. I think that's where the focus should be. I don't know that we have the votes in Congress now to pass bold legislation with the likes of Manchin pushing back on everything Joe tries to do. Not saying not to try, but I have little hope of anything significant getting done without changing the filibuster rules or eliminating it.

57. Red Scare marginalized subversives, we must do the same to non-patriots

There is means testing, let's have intent testing, loyalty oath to the USA to obtain benefits including tax refunds, Social Security, Medicare, government loans, etc.

There was the Red Scare, well this is the same thing from the Extreme Right. We dealt with extremists by casting them as non-patriots, which they were, and these fascists are the same.

Vote. Every. Republican. Out. Of. Office.
None of them deserves election or re-election.
All of them are GUILTY of subverting democracy.
NOTHING will ever get better in the U.S. until the GOP* is gone!

The GQP is actively subverting the electoral process to hold on to minority rule.
We're seeing several states actually legislate voter suppression! Unimaginable just even a decade ago, when most states were expanding voting access.
Yes, we must vote them out, but the American people must wake up first - and fast.

And over again.

If WE don't vote them out, WE will lose much more than a seat in the House, Senate, a Governorship, State representatives.

They are changing voting laws and setting up ways to cheat. If WE don't think that what happened in 2020 isn't going to happen again; challenges up and down the voting blocks we are delusional. They have showed us their playbook and we better have learned from it.

We must use FEAR as they use fear to get out the vote. Mere facts will not be enough (IMO).

We MUST use all the VIDEO they have put in our hands from the insurrection to remind people WHO THEY ARE!

We will NEVER change the core but we MUST pick off the outliers.

Rant over. Again, thanks for posting your concise clear view.

73. If Trump would have "won". How angry and motivated would we be?
Tue Apr 27, 2021, 03:04 PM
Apr 2021

Not that I'm into the Sarandon theory of revolution, but dammit, close your eyes, just imagine, for one second, we were living in the first months of a second Trump term. Vaccines would be stalled. Still would be no plan. And even more draconian laws would be enacted to curtail civil rights.

We have to retain our spirit of RESIST. Because its all still there. Some have gone dormant. But they are all there under the surface. With assholes like Carlson keeping the fires stoked.

Imagine the anger by Democrats facing an even more arrogant defiant Senate and Whitehouse who complete their takeover of institutions, especially the oversight ones. Dems have to still be that angry about the insurrection. Don't allow the Republicans to define the narrative.

I imagine some good documentaries will come out about the insurrection. I also predict that if its a truthful, harrowing account, it will be dismissed as 'fake news' by Fox n friends in the media. They want to normalize the notion that its a he said....she said definition. And that its perfectly legitimate having the opinion that it was simply a protest by patriots gone wrong exaggerated by the fake news, or sparked by Antifa provocateurs, and that Trump had no responsibility for it, etc etc..
We can't let that happen

You would have interpreted it very differently, in my opinion.

The gist of the post is that Democrats should not waste their time on trying to convert Republicans or admit to the facts in front of their faces, including their refusal to begin a 1/6 Commission, and their attempt to minimize that anything ever happened, mostly due to their complicity.

Most of the responses did not see any relation to FOX News....except you.
