GOP senator calls lesbian educator a joke because she doesnt have kids.
Her response was awesome.
"Is he now disqualifying every nun from teaching? Or is this simply a new divisive & hateful homophobic slur against LGBTQ teachers?"

(16,491 posts)My mothers Aunt Floss was a school teacher all her life in the NJ school system. I was in Jr high and learned she never married n didnt have kids. Her kids were her students and she loved them. She wrote a book. History of NJ if I remember correctly and it was part of their curriculum. Never knew her sexual persuasion but Ill say this.. she had more class, compassion n intelligence than Tom Cotton who has never shown an ounce of any human emotion for a thing than him. Hey, Teachers! Any and all colors, creeds n all persuasions.. dont let him get off with this. Dont let any of them try to keep you from shining. This drip drip of cutting others down by our elected who are supposed to represent us is not to be tolerated.

(25,816 posts)It was a lumber town and there were rules for the teachers that included not walking on the "shady"
side of the street where the shady ladies plied their trade to the lumbermen.
Also, they had to be single and childless. She taught for forty years.

(10,106 posts)He was in receipt of illegal donations by the NRA. I believe he is one noted in the lawsuit against the NRA. The recipients of that money, like him Hawley and a few others should be charged in this illegal scheme. It best be included in charges against Trump as well, speaking of which, where are those charges anyway?

(16,702 posts)According to him, I guess all those unchilded young people graduating from college with teaching degrees should not be looking for a job in their field, because none of them are actually qualified to be teachers. Even though no state has ever included parenthood on the list of requirements for teacher certification.
Wow. Better get the word out, Tom, because that's going to be news to a whole lot of people, including every education major I knew in college! Be sure and notify every school board in the country that they need to get busy firing all teachers who aren't parents and hiring new ones who have kids. Do you plan to make an exception for all those who have either a baby on the way or an adoption application in the works by a certain date? Please advise asap, as this is going to be a major undertaking!
