In fact, with the exception of John Bircher's I had never anyone of either party speak in any negative way of FDR.

Only very extreme right wingers as mentioned, I didn't consider them mainstream thought.

Of course not until now. Lindsey speaking as if this were a bad a thing. Seriously bizarre turn of events.

I'm talking since the 1960's.

FDR is not well liked among the rethuglican base or powers that be.

Not just the kooks.

AS far as Dems, I've talked to a very few conservative Democrats who tell me they are Dems (really doubt it - they are libertarian if anything) but literally BLAST FDR's policies. These are mostly Union Dems - go figure.

I go back and forth based on my criteria which is "who faced the greatest challenges and who best met them."
To me there were 3 that faced events that could have ended our country and/or radically altered the world in a bad way.
Which leaves Washington, Lincoln and FDR. Currently I'm leaning FDR.

But really, only John Birchers are nutty enough to say things like that. The John Birch Society, the Federalist Society, the Heritage Foundation, all those are supposed to be loyal, pure Americans like Lindsey, but there's something wrong with FDR. That gives you a glimpse of Lindsey's twisted soul.

FOX for their daily talking points because whatever was "good" when Trump, Bush, etc. were president is now "bad" when a Democrat does the same thing (the ACA was apparently the same thing that was passed in MA).
So I doubt if they even remember FDR.
And if they want to bring him up, my new "sound bite" is that for defense, I'll stick with the party of the president who won WW2, when was the last time a Republican won a war?
And If I'm concerned about the economy, I'll stick with the guy who got us out of the great depression.
And if they persist about the war thing, and its a southerner, I'll ask them why they hooked up with the party of the president who kicked their butt.

especially the one about Republicans not winning wars. They might come to a stalemate sometimes, but they don't really win. And that's where Republicans are supposed to excel, with their bellicose rhetoric and their bloated military budgets. The only thing they can really ever do is tax cuts, mainly for the wealthy, and they're also good at cutting essential services for the public, especially the most needy, vulnerable people. That's all they know how to do. Why can't more people see this?
