Shortages

I’ve heard about shortages but hadn’t really experienced anything myself. I live pretty simply. Today I went to Sharis (a regional restaurant that sells pies to go) to get some pumpkin pies for thanksgiving. I do every year. Today they have none. I went to a couple different ones, didn’t really find out why, just that no one had them. I got a couple other kinds. While there I decided to have breakfast. They were so short staffed it took a long time and there were few customers there. I think the Covid impacts are really hitting the service sector. The good news is that the minimum wage is finally increasing. It’s been so depressed for so long, and it seems that employers are finally having to address it. People are going to have to make some adjustments. A lot of people expect a lot of service from low paid workers. I’m personally all for it, but like I say I live pretty simply and am tetired and don’t have a problem living within my budget.

and egg products were picked over, but still available. That is not atypical for a busy weekend before a holiday.

Hams, turkeys--both fresh and pre-cooked, fresh vegetables, and other produce were well-stocked.

So, I'm not sure what to make about this constant drumbeat of adverse reporting...
