https://www.pennlive.com/news/2021/11/pa-house-gop-leader-diagnosed-with-breakthrough-case-of-covid-19.htmlPennsylvania House Majority Leader Kerry Benninghoff, R-Centre County, is quarantining at home after being diagnosed with a breakthrough case of COVID-19.
Benninghoff, 59, who was fully vaccinated against the coronavirus earlier in the year, developed mild symptoms prior to the Thanksgiving holiday and got tested. On Monday, he received his test results confirming a positive diagnosis, according to a statement released by the House Republican Caucus. (the rest is paywall but you get the idea)

(112,750 posts)The article also is not paywalled. The following four paragraphs:
I am thankful for the health care professionals who have helped me, and many others, through this process, Benninghoff said in the statement.
I will continue to follow their advice and all COVID-19 protocols of the House Republican Caucus before ending my quarantine. My symptoms are mild, and I am working from home as my offices in Bellefonte, Reedsville and Harrisburg continue to serve the people of the 171st District and deliver on a productive agenda for the people of Pennsylvania.
The House is not scheduled to be back in session until Dec. 13.

(62 posts)Fully vaxxed, got tested at the sign of mild symptoms, quarantined. Nowhere does it imply that he believes this is a hoax. We should all take it as seriously.

(82,849 posts)So his chances of dying from Covid-19 are vanishingly small. It's also encouraging that he's following the right course of action so that he doesn't become a vector.
Would that everyone acted this responsibly. Which is, I guess, what makes this story news: A Republican doing the right thing. It's such a rare occurrence, it gets local headlines!

(17 posts)In addition to the above points, the politician also thanked medical professionals for helping him, and not God and Jesus. (For some mysterious reason, Christians never thank the Holy Ghost.)
I wonder how long he'd last, if TFG (and, in lockstep, most of the Penn. GOP) were to oppose his leadership or primary him.
