https://www.dailymail.co.uk/news/article-10364763/Putin-fears-Kremlin-insider-extradited-Switzerland-DEFECTED.htmlThis is also being reported by Bloomberg, which has a paywall.
Sources close to the Kremlin and Russia's intelligence sources believe Klyushin has access to documents related to the 2016 hack of the Democratic National Committee and Hillary Clinton allies, Bloomberg News reported.
According to the Bloomberg report, Klyushin was approached by U.S. and British spy agencies in the years before he left Russia by private jet for a ski trip with his family in Switzerland. People characterized the extradition as a 'serious intelligence blow' to the Kremlin.
If he has documents central to the election hack, Klyushin could try to leverage the information about the election hack in exchange for leniency in the financial crimes he is charged with carrying out.

election manipulation attempts
Trump has all but admitted to Russia hacking the election in 2016. He has said something like,
"What do you think that Russia was hacked the election at the voting machines?"
Russia attacked all 50 states. McConnell, Ryan, Pence, McCarthy, and Jeff Sessions were all aware of these
Russian actions before, during, and after the election.

(2,318 posts)What he knows about Sessions, Graham, and other Rethugs who changed their tune about tRump is much more interesting to me than the DNC hack.
We all know that the Russians hacked the DNC and Hillary and leaked them via Assange and Wikileaks. How they used the RNC hack is much more chilling.

(6,881 posts)The stuff of dry treatise as well as edge-of-your-seat spy thriller classics. And, incidentally, the fate of our democratic experiment.
I would be very pleased to know these characters, most major GOP players, have perpetual sleepless nights of angst and gut-wrenching dread. Not so concerned that some self-serving oligarch may become suicidally uncomfortable and seek safe harbor in the machinations of some, stone faced, US authority.
My debt to my creator does not extend to manifest sympathy for those unrepentant of either political stripe. In the end, we're all snot-filled bait bags dangling on eternity's hooks. Why be mean about it? The real question is how an obscure reference to a 1950's TV game show fits into the narrative. Could it be Marxism in play?

(14,970 posts)It wasn't just the dems who were hacked. They were also targeting the gop and specific gop pol's.
That could end up being even more interesting if we get the docs.
