The Biden administration wants us to believe that Russia is seeking to regain its former greatness by overthrowing the government of Volodymyr Zelensky and replacing it with a puppet government that it would control. The neocon-dominated establishment in both of our political parties wants us to believe that the Soviet Union still exists and is inherently expansionary.

At the same time, if his analysis is correct, it shows a possible way out.

If the "existential threat" is nuclear weapons right on Russia's border--something that in reverse JFK rejected during the Cuban missile crisis--then a simple treaty would negate that concern. Troop limitations on both sides of the border, unless reasonably justified and the need verified, would suffice after that.

It's not like the Baltics host nuclear weapons. That would be seriously stupid on the part of NATO.
