CNNs New Day anchor Brianna Keilar on Wednesday slammed Fox News founder Rupert Murdoch for allowing personalities on the widely watched conservative network to continue to peddle disinformation about COVID-19 and the vaccines.
Murdoch was one of the first people to get the first dose of a COVID vaccine in December 2020, when he thanked the amazing scientists who developed it and urged others to get the shot, Keilar noted. But hosts and guests on the network have repeatedly dabbled with or entered into anti-vaccine territory.
Again, the daily double question is why is Rupert Murdoch, who was one of the first to get vaccinated, allowing this anti-science B.S. on the air? Keilar asked, adding, Because it is killing people. But, you know, ratings. And that is the ultimate moral crime.

(9,897 posts)People who say things like "its my choice to not be vaccinated" or "I refuse to live in fear" are so woefully misinformed and deluded that it is nearly impossible to reach them. The USA has been at approximately 60% vaccinated status for nearly 9 months now and is not going towards the mid-90's necessary for true herd immunity and eradication of an infectious pathogen.
Allowing stupid people to say stupid things and do stupid things - treating imbeciles as disagreeing experts of equal validity - is proloning this pandemic and creating a society where much worse is coming if it is not ended.
Being an illiterate moron is NOT A GODDAMN BADGE OF HONOR and having a social media page or app and an opinion does not trump EXPERTISE OR EXPERIENCE OR REAL KNOWLEDGE.
Morons should not be allowed to feel comfortable spewing their putrid, rancid nonsense in public...they should be highlighted, MOCKED, RIDICULED and made to wear the stupidity of their words like a modern day Scarlet Letter, only instead of the historical red "A", make it an "M" for moron.

(6,259 posts)We know that, but it appears that they see quite the opposite.
They don't see themselves as morons, because, well...they're morons and incapable of realizing that they are.
They embrace stupidity as if it had great intrinsic value. They won't ever see otherwise since they lack the cognitive function needed to measure the actual value of truth versus their stunted beliefs.
I agree that they need to be called out for it, but that won't change them. However it may help keep other people from wandering down that path into the stupid.
What bothers me more than the morons who say this shit is the greedy people who enable them as a means of gaining money and/or power.

(1,672 posts)We have customs you may not be familiar with. People who scream the loudest are always right. Rich people are morally superior to the poor. Making jokes about throwing your political opponents out of helicopters is funny when they're liberals. And my cousins ignorant comments are just as relevant as a Phd because my cousin is a real American, not an elitist.
If you just go to the back of the bus and don't raise any commotion I'm sure you'll adapt eventually.
(And that was sarcasm.)

He'd have caused less damage to us if he had the ability to launch a military invasion.

(10,178 posts)Our right to free speech is a hallmark of our democracy, and yet malignant forces are using that right to undermine our safety through lies about Covid and vaccines, our government through lies about Trump and Republican plans to steal elections, our democratic principles through lies about the current administration that contribute to a loss of faith in democracy, and recently through lies supporting a foreign enemy of the US that have resulted in polls supporting Russia over the US.
I wish I knew how to stop this madness. It is ripping the country apart.

(45,673 posts)What exactly are they done with? They just don't want to hear about the deaths each day and overworked hospital workers. I bet plenty of healthcare workers would love to be done with it and get some rest or a vacation or anything after 2 years of COVIDiots refusing to do even the bare minimum.

Like Darth Cheney, he's too busy making sure no one pulls his plug to worry about business decisions.
