(45,662 posts)or some nonsense like that. Anything except a global economy recovering from a global pandemic while OPEC limits supply.
Oil prices dropped like a hot potato when COVID started because travel ground to hard stop.
The dumbest of them will spew some nonsense about federal investment in electric vehicles and renewable energies are somehow raising gas prices.

(65,407 posts)In our zip code, gas prices were 4¢ HIGHER than they are today, in April to October of 2018.
TFG in the White House, Rs controlling both houses of Congress (until November).
Gas prices were higher!
When gas hit $3.65 here, I told a conservative I know (who was whining about the prices) that gas was a dime cheaper in that same time frame, by a dime!
Gas was LESS THAN 3% more expensive nearly 3 years later. Under 1% per year.
I don't know if I convinced him of anything, but I shut him up!

(548 posts)I was six or seven. Seven it it came out after November. Was very scary to me.
It is one of those movies that I will watch automatically if I stumble across it. The direction (Howard Hawks?) was top notch and the scenes with conversation were flowing and natural. Very realistic.
Bonus question for old timers. Did anyone spot Groucho Marx's announcer?

(3,786 posts)I really believe we should have a weighted system where an actual INFORMED voter's vote counts more than a moron who votes based on nothing. I once proposed a system where the voting machine asked a series of political questions and then matched your vote with the candidate who most matched your stated philosophy (so you could avoid people voting for "names" . The only problem with that is the Republican Party would send out cards in the mail to all their voters telling them how to answer the questions.
That idea was spawned as I stood in line for 4 hours to vote in the 2004 election. As I stood in line, I noticed that a bunch of people in the line with me (usually older folks) were holding and studying cards as they waited. When I took a glance at one of them, I saw it was a card issued by the local Republican Party telling them which candidates to vote for. Ironically, it was this same phenomenon that led to me scuttling my idea.
