"SNIP.......
Finnish prime minister Sanna Marin said Europe is not strong enough to stand up to Russias invasion of Ukraine on its own, and has had to rely on U.S. support, the BBC BBC reports.
Said Marin: I must be brutally honest with you, Europe isnt strong enough right now. We would be in trouble without the United States.
.......SNIP"

and Putin (like Stalin) aims for genocide. He also seems to want to reduce every city to rubble.
As for our superior military might it only works if we use it. Putin took Crimea, and all he got from the West was bleating protests.
Even on DU there has been a contingent who think that because the USSR once possessed The Ukraine, that it is reasonable for Putin to attempt to repossess the land by any means. According to this line of thinking, the US should be telling President Zelensky to negotiate with the same people who are committing grotesque war crimes on Ukrainian soil, and are bombing civilian sites to ankle-high rubble.
So the military might of NATO and the EU and the US? It only works if you use it.

IMHO, poorly for the Ukrainians. Europe would have been unable to provide enough support quickly enough.
An awful lot of that support originates in the EU but US commitments to EU allies made it happen.
A strong NATO is attracting new members.

(3,185 posts)The fix is VERY simple: use all that public money that's squandered on armaments today to ensure a minimum income, and healthcare, for everyone.
Yes, it puts a lot of the Military Industrial complex (murderers, or accessories to murder in any other context) out of work. Too bad. Find something more useful to do.

Sanna Marin's Finland will be a great addition to NATO.
