FBI joins investigation into North Carolina power outage

https://www.cnn.com/2022/12/05/us/power-outage-moore-county-investigation-monday/index.html

With no suspects or motive announced, the FBI is joining the investigation into power outages in a North Carolina county believed to have been caused by “intentional” and “targeted” attacks on substations that left around 40,000 customers in the dark Saturday night, prompting a curfew and emergency declaration.

The mass outage in Moore County turned into a criminal investigation when responding utility crews found signs of potential vandalism of equipment at different sites – including two substations that had been damaged by gunfire, according to the Moore County Sheriff’s Office.

“The person, or persons, who did this knew exactly what they were doing,” Moore County Sheriff Ronnie Fields said during a Sunday news conference. “We don’t have a clue why Moore County.”

Fields said multiple rounds were fired at the two substations. “It was targeted, it wasn’t random,” he said.

The sheriff would not say whether the criminal activity was domestic terrorism but noted “no group has stepped up to acknowledge or accept they’re the ones who [did] it.”

https://occupydemocrats.com/2022/12/04/power-play-nc-police-question-right-wing-organizer-after-terrorist-attacks-on-power-grid/

Police in a North Carolina county say they’re investigating the motive behind coordinated attacks in which multiple electrical substations were vandalized, leaving thousands without electricity — and one right-wing group has been questioned as they celebrate the destruction.

Moore County was suffering widespread power outages Saturday night, and upon investigation, deliberate vandalism was discovered at multiple power substations. Police announced that they were looking into the destruction as a possible criminal act — and at the same time, the leader of a local right-wing group was boasting about the damage.

It isn’t Emily Grace Rainey’s first time being investigated or questioned about her activism. She was still an army officer, though she’d already submitted a letter requesting separation, when she and around 100 others from her county attended the deadly January 6th rally in Washington D.C.

She is one of the several military members who were investigated for potential wrongdoing following that attack.

Her Facebook group, Moore County Citizens for Freedom (MCCF) had planned a protest of a family-friendly drag show that was taking place at a local theater Saturday night, and when the power went out, she suggested it was an act of God.

She also boasted that she knew the truth behind the damage. Her page had previously listed contact information for the event’s sponsors, and encouraged followers with a vague, “You know what to do.”

There are pictures of her at the Back the Blue NC rallies, including one with her and the sheriff hanging out and posing together back in 2020.

She has done other things, like rip the caution tape off the playground equipment two times during the Covid lockdown. The police said they talked with her and hoped she would learn her lesson and not do that again, then didn't charge her. So, she did it again and they finally charged her for that.

She has weird ideas to say the least. Apparently, her sins are ok, running around with a married man and having a kid with him while he is still married to someone else. She calls the kid her son from sin or something to that effect. She's a flake, ok. That's the easiest way to put it. She really really hates the LGBTQ community. She has been hassling everyone for a while now, in various cities in NC.

They raped me a couple decades ago, then told me I should be raped until I learn to like it. They spread lies and hate despite the fact that they know nothing about the LGBT community. Nothing. They don't want to learn the truth or even hear the truth. They believe what they've been told, usually in the churches here, there aren't many friendly churches here for us. That's final with them. They imagine a lot of stuff that seems to scare them then outrage them, never once listening to the truth. Their minds are made up. New generations here come along and it's the same all over again.

One good thing, more people are deciding not to hate than before. Not many, but more than before. I'm hearing the rape comments less nowadays. I used to have to hear people scream it at me from across the parking lot at the grocery store after being accosted and preached at IN the grocery store. It was bad for about 10 years, then I copped an attitude. They now think I am a demon, but it got them off me for the most part.

If we can get the majority in most places to see the truth, the hate can't have quite as much power. Unfortunately, in places like this area of NC, that hate will never stop and never go away. Whereas other places might have a 60/40 Dem to Republican ratio, here it's closer to 80/20 and sometimes even more in the other direction. Hate will always win in places like this. That doesn't mean not to fight. It means fight harder. You have to in order to live.

Whoever did this achieved nothing except a few miserable days and a lot of pissed off people of all different backgrounds. I think most everyone is going to want them charged too. We keep fighting for our humanhood. They can go to prison.

I am so sorry that happened to you. These assholes! I guess I’m spoiled living here in my area of Northern Delaware, people are generally very tolerant, generous, civilized. We have a lot of diversity. I’m betting it’s gotten pretty bad down state which is only about 80 miles away. I haven’t had to go down there too much lately since I’m retired but I know it’s what the politics down there are and they’ve gotten so much worse. Somebody in 2010 decided Christein O’Donnell would be a good Senate candidate. Fortunately that Delaware Republican party hasn’t been the same since. Can’t win elections. Again I am so sorry, you are so brave

If you look up Lights Out and Nazis, there is an article (actually, there are several articles) about how the Neo-Nazis plan to disable America's power grid to take over the country.

Never trust the cops here and never let anyone you care about talk to them without at least one attorney present, for any reason. They like to pin things on those they don't like when they know who did it and have no intentions of arresting who actually did it. I used to have to work with an ex-cop here and he bragged about that kind of stuff.

They were able to finish the drag show concert. It was a concert to raise money for local food banks. They used cell phones for light and finished the concert a capella, still raised the money for the food banks. So, if stopping the concert was the culprit's goal, they failed.

40,000 people are, at minimum, irked about having to spend the coldest nights so far without power for several days. They will have to replace the food in their refrigerators, because it warms up a lot during the day, then gets pretty cold at night. Trust me. I'm on Duke Energy and it takes them that long often enough that it has cost me lots over time. The food will go bad with our weird temperature fluctuations from day to night.

Hospitals had to go to backup power and do all sorts of things to keep running.
Grocery stores gave out the food and oddly, ice, because it would spoil/melt otherwise.
There were wrecks with the traffic lights not working.
Cell phone service was down too, except I think it was AT&T, which is odd, because AT&T always sucked for me for cell signal strength both in my county and Moore county.

The culprit, for whatever reason they thought they had, is going to have to explain why they did this stupid stupid thing and put so many people through this nightmare. I honestly cannot think of a "reason" the culprit can give that will make those 40k people and those of us in surrounding counties go, "Oh ok, well that makes it all ok."

They just humiliated themselves, whether they know it or not yet.
