“For me, it came down to a single question: How can I best serve the people of Nebraska and advance our conservative values? In Congress, we’re in a fight for the future of our nation, and it’s a fight we have to win. We must cut taxes, strengthen public safety and our national security, and protect our most sacred freedoms,” Ricketts said in a statement shared with The Hill.

You say you want to cut taxes, but also strengthen public safety and national security. We already spend more than $2 billion a day, every day on defense. Does your plan to "strengthen" those programs involve spending even more money on them? And if it does, doesn't cutting taxes mean borrowing more money to cover the budget deficit? Or does that mean you're going to shift other spending by the government so that you can pour more money into the bottomless maw of the defense industry? What items in the national budget do you propose to cut? Or should we guess?
