Idaho murders live: Victim families vent anger and frustration as Kaylee Goncalves 'stalker' details

emerge

Families of the four slain University of Idaho students have voiced their frustration at the lack of updates from law enforcement three weeks into the investigation.

Steve Goncalves, whose daughter Kaylee Goncalves was brutally stabbed along with her friends Madison Mogen, Xana Kernodle, and Ethan Chapin on 13 November, told the New York Post on Sunday that he is working with private investigators.

The grieving father told the outlet that one of the officers assigned to the investigation was still a teen when the last murder took place in Moscow in 2015. The Moscow Police Department, Idaho State Police and the FBI are the agencies working on the investigation, which entered its third week on Sunday with no major developments.

Mogen’s stepfather, Scott Laramie, also told Fox News Digital that despite the consistent updates from law enforcement, it is frustrating that the killer is still at large.

... I was struck by this sentence, "The grieving father told the outlet that one of the officers assigned to the investigation was still a teen when the last murder took place in Moscow in 2015." Combined with the frustration, which I understand, I wonder if they think one of the investigators is (26?) too young? Or, maybe there is a link with the 2015 murder?

... I would not mind a younger investigator on the case, but as part of a team. I hope they have experience, also. The most experienced person should be in the lead.

a million dollar budget. They are doing the best that they can. If the bad guy is no relationship to the victims, it takes longer. Poor families, but we need the correct person arrested on these horrible Homicides.

Media, leave the families alone.

the effort. Typically the Feds let the locals take the lead if at all possible, but are they up to it? Memories of Jon Benet Ramsey and Boulder Police's inept efforts to do come to mind.

and local. Everyone is there. Two FBI behavioral units.

Moscow P.D. knows they aren’t qualified alone to do this. As long as they get the correct person, it takes what it takes.

Let’s just hope the bad guy cut his hand,

Just one agent , local alone for hours. When the child was found dead in the basement, then everyone started jumping. Everyone thought it was a kidnapping.

Don’t act like some people don’t have experience in criminal investigations here. Some people do.

Sorry if you don’t like probable cause, I guess they can just grab some random college kid. Lab work takes time, we’re lucky this case can’t afford it all. It took months for Gainesville, 5 years for Delphi, and over 30 years for East Area Rapist.

Parents and others can be upset, I get it. Just need evidence first.

the right to their opinions. You are being offensive attacking me for mine. Nowhere did I even IMPLY that we should not have probable cause for arrests. I am debating whether or not there is good leadership at the helm in the investigation. So, just STOP it.

Regardless, I am just so saddened for those families, but also the terrified students and residents of Moscow, ID, who have no idea what their own continuing risk might be.

just reread "I'll Been Gone In The Dark," afraid this will become another cold case.
