(21,483 posts)Welcome home Brittany, Dems can shout that to the rooftops. I really don't give a shit how Fox News spins it.

(7,878 posts)They questioned whether or not this prisoner swap could have been delayed to keep from having these (honestly, ridiculous) negative stories from coming out before the runoff election. It's all just conservative-driven hysteria with their usual manufactured narratives, but conservative-driven hysteria with their usual manufactured narratives is pretty much the main factor in Republican GOTV efforts nowadays...

(7,878 posts)I doubt they would have done that either and probably would have thought that this would have brought favorable coverage -- even though they may be a little naive about that given the state of most of our current news media.

(5,104 posts)held up the deal until after the GA Senate race was over. I think that's actually very likely.
Some may also be suggesting that it was Putin and the GQP working together as a conspiracy, and that moves into different territory.
No one is suggesting that Joe Biden was engaged in self-sabotage. Isn't that obvious, Chris?

(94,929 posts)He doesn't care about "a win" for Democrats. He cares about clout and influence. Whether Walker won or not would no appreciable impact on control of the Senate.

(5,104 posts)He may not be proving to be a "strategic genius," but Putin is crafty enough to understand American politics. A 50/50 Senate is better for him than one with a Democratic majority. No doubt about that.
I think your assertion that "whether Walker won or not would no appreciable impact on control of the Senate" is false.
Putin is also in no hurry to get Bout. He's been under arrest or jailed for what? 14 years? A couple days or weeks are not critical.
