What happens if all the State Legislatures become Democratic?
But, as we know, Republicans live in the moment. They never plan for the future.
How long do they think voters will tolerate state legislatures voting for them for president, when many have only gotten their majority thru gerrymandering. The "true majority" is not in charge of many of these legislatures.
Also, it is a question about separation of powers. The Supreme Court may be able to rule on the legality of legislative issues but they are not able to dictate how another branch of government does its job. To rule against the state courts would be to rule against themselves.
It's a silly question but the Supreme Court has agreed to take it up. Who would be surprised if they made a favorable ruling for Trump and the Republicans before the general election of 2024?
They could make legal what the Trump team tried to do illegally in 2020.

(47,684 posts)The GOP is very serious about gaining permanent control and installing a white male, christian minority rule.
While we are serious about maintaining a multicultural democracy.
The stakes could not be higher.
Right now, the autocracies of the world are gaining power and trying to shift global power.
The GOP has been a willing participant in this power shift.
We are watching this story unfold every day.
