The Republican controlled House will definetly impeach Joe Biden

Why? Well, any insane reason will do. Because he traded a major criminal to Russia for some girl basketball player. Because he's left our southern border "wide open" to all of those brown people. Because Biden "stole the 2020 election" from "Dear Leader." Or just because they can. Of course, they know their impeachment will go nowhere in the Senate. They'll probably spend the next two years impeaching him over and over again, just because they can. It will be Benghazi, Benghazi, Benghazi redux. (And Gym Jordan and Marjorie Taylor Greene will probably be leading the investigations.)

And, of course, they'll try to make Hunter Biden's laptop the equivalent of the stolen secret and top secret documents found at Mar-a-lago. Hunter Biden's laptop will be one of the lead stories on Fox "news" almost every night for the next two years.

And let's not forget unfinished business like putting Hillary in jail. This will be among their top priorities. Plus, they'd like to see Dr. Fauci in the cell next to hers.

Never mind the out-of-reach prices at the supermarket or used car dealer. Never mind investing in education, health care, or the general well being of the American people. None of that matters matters to them. They're out for revenge. They're out for blood.

The elected Republican Party, and those bug-shit insane enough to vote for them, are mentally fucked up beyond repair. And they're doing their best to make America fucked up beyond repair. What do you suppose our country will look like two years from now?

Here in California we have a number of Republican House members who know their odds of being reelected would be shredded if they supported impeachments. Same in NY and other places.

With a larger majority, perhaps. But it would be asking Reps in swing districts to commit political suicide to flatter the ego of Donald J Trump--someone for whom they have no fealty.

I started on DU almost a decade ago, posted twice, and received very rude responses by people who had been on the site a long time. I left then, finally coming back a few months ago with a different username because I can't remember my old details. I will give you one of my futuristic takes: Most of the energy released from the burning of fossil fuels goes into heating the atmosphere, ocean, and land. Only about five percent goes into melting ice. Due to the latent heat of fusion of water it takes a large amount of energy to actually melt the ice. Some areas, New Orleans, Miami, Kolkata, Mumbai, Shanghai, the North China Plain, etc. are absolutely in danger due to sea level rise. But the people in any area more than a few of meters in elevation are not in danger due to sea level rise. By the time that sea level has risen a few meters enough energy will have been emitted to warm the atmosphere enough to have caused serial cereal harvest failures. Far more people will die from starvation and its sequalae than will die from sea level rise. Scientists are making progress toward heat resistant RuBisCo and RuBisCo activase, but I don't think that progress will come quickly enough.

For over 30 years the GOP and other political players been pursuing this "the allegation IS the crime" strategy against the Democratic Party.

Maybe keep count of how many wins they get in court this time? In over 25 years of "investigations" of Hillary and Bill, not one crime that could and should be prosecuted was found and pursued. Zero. (The GOP's Lewinsky perjury trap was a special case created by the GOP.)

During the 2016 Democratic primaries, the LW populist campaign filed a whole bunch of lawsuits alleging state Democratic parties were stealing the primary elections, and they loudly claimed it happened in many others but didn't follow through on their threats to take them to court. I didn't think to keep count until it was too late, either the lawsuits actually filed in court or the ones they were "considering," but together almost every state whose voters chose the other candidate. Although none of these allegations were ever dropped ("zero" ), we all know how many of the suits filed were also not dropped after the press moved on and before actual, you know, evidence had to be produced: Zero.

So, since that's the game, and since the MSM don't keep count of all the phony investigations, allegations and lawsuits against Democrats/Democratic Party that fail to be valid, it might be worth doing for ourselves this time. Even fun. It'll be zero for them, but out of how many?

Mon Dec 12, 2022, 04:36 PM
Dec 2022

Far too many people buy the snake oil they're selling and vote accordingly.

One extreme example is the Repulican/QAnon lie that Hillary was running a child sex-abuse ring in the basement of a pizzeria in Washington DC. One nut who believed it went into the pizza parlor (that didn't have a basement) with an AR 15. Fortunately, no one was killed. But the never-ending propaganda and outright lies of the Republican Party are a clear and present danger. And it also influences how some people vote.

And with social media weaponized to produce donations EVERY time someone from the right or illiberal left phony-charges or even calls for investigations of Democrats to believers trained to regard opposition as wisdom,, donations get a bump. The noisier, and more outrageous, the allegations, the Bigger the Money.

The wildly successful "rigged elections" deceit narratives have become huge cash cows that will produce for all anti-Democratic factions with just occasional repriming for years, decades even.

But constant poisonous propaganda dribbles, top of the pack constantly sneaking in allegations against Democrats by calling us "congress" and false-identifying us with Republicans, also work appallingly well.

That's the game. People's heads are the ball to be kicked through the goal posts.

How the Dems lost the house i will never understand. I don't think the GOP could have picked a worst roster if it wanted. Between Boebert, Greene, Gosar, Geatz, Jordan there is so much material there any campaign manager worth their salt could have run just devastating campaigns against these people and pretty much the rest of the GOP house.

I remember when Gary Hart simply had a woman who was not his wife sit on his lap and Republicans were able to use that so effectively he had to drop out of the race president (it didn't help that he dared the media to find something,... they did) and that was when there was only 3 news shows on TV, not the endless methods that exist now to get a perception to stick.

They are nothing more than a hate-filled, vengeful mob of fascists, neo-Nazis, violent insurrectionists, Confederates, militias bent on wreaking havoc & violence, propagandists, outright criminals and individuals who want to literally destroy the democratic process as it now stands.

I would like to hear at least one redeeming quality that is left within the Republican party. ONE. I honestly cannot think of one because there are little redeeming qualities left, if any.

The "old" Republican party is gone. Many do not yet realize it yet, but it has been consumed by the monster of its own creation. The moderates or liberals within the former party are not going to come to rescue it. They will either go along or be run out.
The monster has now become too powerful.

Trying to negotiate or be bipartisan with this monster-party is a fool's game. They have absolutely no intention of doing anything of the sort. There may be a few who will vote sanely now and again, but it only seems to happen when they have a partisan interest in the legislation. Otherwise, if they actually do stand-up or vote for what is right, they are eviscerated and practically drummed out of the party.

What is the point of treating these people like they are members of a party that no longer exists? They have now turned into a monstrosity that just bears the Republican name. We need to start dealing with them as they really are, not how they were.
