A notorious Trump judge just fired the first shot against birth control

Vox

Matthew Kacsmaryk, a Trump appointee to a federal court in Texas, spent much of his career trying to interfere with other people’s sexuality.

A former lawyer at a religious conservative litigation shop, Kacsmaryk denounced, in a 2015 article, a so-called “Sexual Revolution” that began in the 1960s and 1970s, and which “sought public affirmation of the lie that the human person is an autonomous blob of Silly Putty unconstrained by nature or biology, and that marriage, sexuality, gender identity, and even the unborn child must yield to the erotic desires of liberated adults.”

So, in retrospect, it’s unsurprising that Kacsmaryk would be the first federal judge to embrace a challenge to the federal right to birth control after the Supreme Court’s June decision eliminating the right to an abortion.

Last week, Kacsmaryk issued an opinion in Deanda v. Becerra that attacks Title X, a federal program that offers grants to health providers that fund voluntary and confidential family planning services to patients. Federal law requires the Title X program to include “services for adolescents.”

The plaintiff in Deanda is a father who says he is “raising each of his daughters in accordance with Christian teaching on matters of sexuality, which requires unmarried children to "practice abstinence and refrain from sexual intercourse until marriage.” He claims that the program must cease all grants to health providers who do not require patients under age 18 to “obtain parental consent” before receiving Title X-funded medical care.

Because their "religion" is not about inspiring people to become better people themselves, their "religion" is about facilitating and legitimizing their control over other people.

He is not being forced to raise a critical thinking female capable of making her own decisions.

His precious pure sexless daughter will no longer be his to control after she reaches adulthood however. His daughter is NOT his property until he marries her off.

Seriously. What the hell went on in his early life that led him to have this mindset?

Belief in the god of Abraham. The only explanation. No one is allowed to have any fun, ANYWHERE for any reason that my church and I don't approve of.

IMO he perhaps has chosen to hide his true sexuality behind his religion and politics, and is desperately fearful one of his bigoted misogynistic peers will (gasp) find him out and shame him.

This is all purely speculation on my part. But I believe this Judge needs to see a psychiatrist very soon.

If not, fuck him - let him live with his pain for the rest of his time on this rock. He has outed himself, and we ptrogressives will now be able to track him and shame him publicly anyway for the rest of his tenure.

We who don't have a lot of it - like me, I think having all that money would be great and solve all problems, enjoyable, as I could afford travel or this or that. But it seems like in reality, a person who has all that can't just enjoy it. They need power over others. Now they have the money to attempt it.

The Texas legislature meets again early next year, and I expect to see all kinds of crazy crap being passed into law. My guess is that they will pass laws to persecute trans kids and their families that build on Abbott’s heinous policy of forcing Child Services to investigate families of trans kids with the threat of removing kids and putting them in foster care.

They’ll possibly change the Texas Medicaid rules and the Women’s health programs to eliminate coverage for birth control. Then abortion pills will feature in legislation intended to stop any access.

Since Abbott was just re-elected and Republicans have a lock on the state legislature through gerrymandering, I believe they may go all the way on abortion and outlaw it with no conditions. The Supreme Court signaled their approval for anything Republicans want to do take away reproductive rights by refusing to stay SB8 when it was clearly unconstitutional until Roe was overturned.

I also look for them to damage public education more through statutes banning the teaching of racial injustice and banning books on human sexuality entirely. The state Board of Education will likely join the attacks on education by issuing new curriculum standards that will require the teaching of Republican propaganda, white history, and the promotion of Christian Nationalism and fascism.

In short, this state will become the testing ground for just how extreme Republicans can be before the courts stop them, and with so many Trump appointees now in the federal court system and on the SC, that may be extreme indeed.

and since males escape unscathed from it, they're allowed to skate away from the consequences while the woman is shamed for the rest of her life for an unwanted pregnancy not officially claimed by a male she was enslaved by.

I hate to point out the obvious to this sack of shit, but somebody's got to: a lot of people in this country are NOT CHRISTIAN and that number is continuing to grow while males like him are trying to force us back into a miserable past that we don't want.

I don't know what we can do about these wannabe Popes that TFG put onto the Federal courts except make sure there are enough sensible people to overturn all their decisions.

I am sad for this man's daughters, but I know if they're like the rest of us, they'll use contraception and just lie about it to fanatic daddykins because clearly none of this is any of his business.
