The Los Angeles City Council approved Mayor Karen Bass' declaration of a homelessness emergency at a fraught four-hour meeting Tuesday, giving the new mayor a potentially critical tool for addressing the city's humanitarian crisis.

The vote should have been a simple procedural step. But it was thrown into jeopardy by the tumult at City Hall.

Embattled Councilmember Kevin de León stepped onto the council floor midway through the session. Council President Paul Krekorian immediately called for a recess, sending the meeting into limbo.

De León has faced widespread calls for his resignation as fallout from a racist leaked audiotape roiled the city. Several colleagues had threatened to leave the room if he showed up. Tensions intensified over the weekend after De León was involved in a fight with an activist during an Eastside Christmas tree lighting.

deepened the antipathy. And the things said on the tape can not be rationalized, or swept away.

But let me tell you, as a native Angeleno, what's going down at LA City Hall is not an organic protest that represents the people of my fair city, but is instead are an organized effort by self-styled "radicals" on the lunatic fringe who are bend on creating havoc.

In one of this group's forms (they wear many t-shirts) they attack our president (Don't Run, Joe!), but disrupting the proceedings of a Democrat-led City Council and making life hell for our new mayor, Democrat Karen Bass is this groups mission at hand.

Recently I was pointed to a forum of kookie "radicals" who split off from this forum. You probably know the ones. Well those "radicals" are very much like what we are dealing with here in LA. They are where far-left and far-right meet.

It is an organized attack on liberal democracy, conducted by professional agitators.

Do understand this.
