That announcement looked like a really bad infomercial on late night television though even with those, you actually get something tangible.

Even his supporters have finally had enough of his con game. He's always selling and giving nothing in return.

Trump always liked side businesses. Vodka, wine, steaks, etc. He still sees himself as an endless extension of his brand. But just like his finite life, he's slowly declining in brand recognition. I suspect that he may one day get ahead of the curve and start selling cremation urns, with an option of storing your ashes in a very special mausoleum where the Trump family resides, post-mortem-- for a premium price.

$100 will buy a four foot flag, a yard sign, full size stand up, and probably a Trump '24 shirt. Those are all things they can display to whizz off the libs. They don't have meetings where they swap trading cards so no one will ever see them.

I'll bet you can't even play poker with them, so once his adoring fans see there are no numbers or suits on them (except the one he's wearing that always looks like he slept in it because he's afraid of tailors and their germs), the popularity will drop like a rock. Even rubes have their standards.

The real suckers are going to be the yuppies who think they can buy a whole set, stash it somewhere, and their great-great grandchildren will find it all and get rich quick on a future version of Antiques Roadshow.

Of course, there will always be one or two cards that will be scarce. That's how these scams always work, especially since I'm sure there won't be a wafer of hideously sweet bubble gum in the pack.

Holy cow. It may just have been photoshopping his face onto the images, because the bodies certainly don't match TFG at all. Heck, the tie isn't anywhere near long enough. (And the cowboy on the range one screams "green screen&quot

Still gotta love that football field. My first thought was did they shrink it horizontally so much to slenderize TFG's girth that the yard lines ended up only about a foot apart? Though upon further examination, the awkward way the "45" was labeled made me think that it couldn't have been made by someone who has any familiarity whatsoever with American football. (So maybe it's a ten-year-old Russian kid who photoshopped them as part of an "Intro to Troll-Memes" course in grade school) And the deflated football was meant to allude to his admirer Tom Brady and to disassociate from other un-American players who (gasp!) kneel during the national anthem.

150. Turns out the company that is selling these "trading cards" . . .
Thu Dec 15, 2022, 10:14 PM
Dec 2022

. . . has the same West Palm Beach FL address as . . . Trump's golf club!!!

https://www.rawstory.com/trump-nfts-2658971249/

On Thursday, after teasing a massive announcement the day before, former President Donald Trump unveiled a series of $99 "trading card" nonfungible tokens, or NFTs — images of himself backed by cryptocurrency technology.

The announcement was widely mocked — however, one slightly less discussed detail is the nature of the company making the cards.

It isn't Trump's campaign, nor is it the Trump Organization. Rather, it is a mysterious entity known as CIC Ventures, which, according to Ken Bensington of The New York Times, has a lot of overlap with Trump.

"The company that licensed Trump's image and likeness for the $99 NFT trading cards appears to be one founded in 2021 by former Trump advisor Nick Luna and current Trump lawyer John Marion," wrote Bensington on Twitter. "Its mailing address is the same as the Trump International Golf Club in West Palm Beach."

"Little is known about CIC, but a little digging shows that a manila folder seized from Mar-a-Lago by the FBI in August was marked 'Serio Contract' and contained a contract with CIC Ventures and Gold Ventures, per a federal court filing," Bensington continued.

Even some Trump supporters grumbled about the NFT announcement, complaining that the cards on offer were "worthless" and a "scam."

This comes as Trump has suffered setbacks with his 2024 campaign launch, with some polls indicating he is losing the lead among the Republican base to Florida Gov. Ron DeSantis — which Trump took to his Truth Social platform to rail against this week.

Fri Dec 16, 2022, 08:18 AM
Dec 2022
We know Donald loves a good deal, so we’re selling his exclusive, limited edition NFT digital trading cards for just $98. These are exactly the same – like literally 100% identical – to the ones on the official Trump website, but at a special discounted price!

That’s right MAGA fans, you can get the 100% authentic digital cards featuring images of America’s best president (better than Lincoln and Washington) for $1 less than through official channels! That means if you buy five, you’ll save like $2,000! {..snip..}

Plus, one in every 100 hundred cards includes a classified US Government document, free!

https://www.theshovel.com.au/2022/12/16/donald-trump-digital-trading-cards/

I've heard NFTs ridiculed for years, but had only the vague notion they were a scam of some sort. MajorAnnouncement prompted me to learn more. I found the following clear explanation on Forbes. The explanation seems to validate that The Shovel can sell these NFTs just as they claim

BLUF: NFT comes down to a blockchain token that a freely available to view digital image is "owned" by someone who values this "ownership" more than the work itself.

An NFT is a digital asset that represents real-world objects like art, music, in-game items and videos. They are bought and sold online, frequently with cryptocurrency, and they are generally encoded with the same underlying software as many cryptos...

NFTs are also generally one of a kind, or at least one of a very limited run, and have unique identifying codes. “Essentially, NFTs create digital scarcity,”...

This stands in stark contrast to most digital creations, which are almost always infinite in supply. Hypothetically, cutting off the supply should raise the value of a given asset, assuming it’s in demand...

Anyone can view the individual images—or even the entire collage of images online for free. So why are people willing to spend millions on something they could easily screenshot or download?

Because an NFT allows the buyer to own the original item. Not only that, it contains built-in authentication, which serves as proof of ownership. Collectors value those “digital bragging rights” almost more than the item itself.
