Twitter bans NY Times, Washington Post, CNN reporters critical of Elon Musk

Twitter banned or suspended several high-profile journalists Thursday evening, a move that further reveals the seemingly arbitrary decision-making of Elon Musk, a self-avowed “free speech absolutist.”

Among the users affected are New York Times tech reporter Ryan Mac, Washington Post reporter Drew Harwell, CNN correspondent Donie O’Sullivan, Mashable reporter Matt Binder and independent journalist Aaron Rupar — all of whom have extensively reported on Musk, often critically.

The reasons behind their respective removals — and what rules they violated to lead to these bans and suspensions — remain unclear.
