Not mentioned here but some states are trying to cut pensions to retired faculty too. I am friends with several of my former professors and they have told me of their battles with the state over it. State universities are starving their workers to death. Student employees don't have time and focus to hold down several jobs and their studies for years in order to get something that is becoming less valuable over time as well.

The whole system needs to be evaluated and major adjustments made.
