Just and idea can the DoJ hire 'Liz Cheney and Adam Kinzinger to investigate members of Congress, ..

.... people like the Capitol Architect, and the acting head of the DoD's stand down order*
who helped in the 1/6/21 attempted Coup.

needs to be apolitical.

This would violate (smash!) probably several of the most important principles on which the DoJ is founded and operates. Would NEVER happen with Democrats in power.

Under today's Republicans out to destroy every institution that blocks their acquisition of power, yes. But, as under tRump, they'd appoint corrupt insurrectionists with the intent to break this bastion.

and more importantly, wouldn't hire them because they need to avoid the appearance of political motivation. DOJ will be accused of that anyhow, but they already have highly competent prosecutors who can handle the job while avoiding an unnecessarily high profile. Also, Kinzinger isn't even a lawyer and Cheney had practiced law for only a short time before working in government, and none of that experience was as a prosecutor. This case should be left to neutral professionals with no political axes to grind.
