The way the J6 Committee laid out the timeline for this insurrection - it appears they have his thinking, scheming and actions 'dead to rights'.
I have to think that he has got to be flabbergasted as to how the committee put the info that they gathered all together and were spot on in their accounting of his thoughts and actions (or lack of action) for that day.
I don't think he'll be able to weasel his way out of this one!!!

(25,296 posts)He even had some of his toadies agreeing with him and urging him on.
His thinking - "I'm invincible. I'm going to continue being president because I will manipulate this whole think and retain power. This plan is ingenious."
Then it all fell apart. And it's all come down to this - today.
Yes - maybe he's still thinking that he was right doing all of this - but - I have to think he's knows his 'goose is cooked' this time and that he is the loser in more ways than one.
Not only has he lost the 2020 election - but he's lost everything else to go along with it.
Somewhere in the back of his mind - he's realizes the reality of this whole thing and he's depressed and desperate.
What will he do now????

The narcissistic part of Trump is very angry that others don't recognize how special he is.
He is not getting the adoration and total respect he alone deserves.
The sociopath part of Trump is furious that his crimes and lies are being called out.
Sometimes a sociopath goes easy, he is philosophical and realizes the jig is up.
He had a good run. But I don't think Trump is going to be in this category given
his drug addiction and other disorders.
It is possible that Trump will get dangerous, or pull some serious stunts.

(5,125 posts)Mary in the interview with Hartmann said if he's indicted, Trump will take action and attempt to clear his name or cast blame in another direction.
"We should expect a full court press, by him and everybody in his orbit, to change the subject, muddy the waters, deflect, project, cast blame on everybody from the lowliest of White House aides on up," she said. "He will not take it lying down and he will engage everybody who continues to be a hanger-on to do his bidding."
"I mean, Donald didn't do this by himself," Mary continued. "He was enabled at every turn from people in his inner circle, everybody in the executive branch, and almost the entirety of the Republican Party."
If formal charges are brought against Trump, there are many strategies his legal team might employ in an attempt to clear him. His lawyers might choose to plead insanity or argue that he genuinely believed the 2020 presidential election was rigged, legal experts told Insider.

(32,912 posts)Of course there will be others - namely Mark Meadows, Peter Navarro, Steve Bannon, Stephen Miller, Kellyanne Conway - but the main culprit will be Jared.
That's so he can hold off on accusing his own children until everyone else has been sacrificed. It will happen eventually though. First Junior, then Eric, then lastly he'll blame Ivanka.
By then nobody will be listening to him. Everyone in America, including the MAGAts, will all know that he's a raving lunatic. Nobody will care.

https://nypost.com/2022/12/08/dems-seek-information-about-kushners-role-in-middle-east-policy/
Two Democrat-led congressional committees want to know whether Jared Kushners actions as a Middle East policy adviser in the Trump White House was influenced by the bailout of a financially troubled building his family owned in Manhattan.
The Senate Finance and House Oversight committees sent letters this week to the State and Defense departments asking for documents that would illuminate whether Kushners financial conflict of interest may have led him to improperly influence US tax, trade and national security policies for his own financial gain.
The Washington Post first reported on the panels requests Wednesday.
At the center of the probe sits 666 Fifth Avenue, a 41-story building owned by Jared Kushner, 76-year-old former President Donald Trumps son-in-law, and his father, Charles.
In 2018, the Kushners made a deal in which Canadian investment firm Brookfield Asset Management invested $1.2 billion for a 99-year lease on the property that allowed the family to avoid defaulting on a loan coming due the next year.

What the flabby painted-orange insurrectionist is likely to think about as he exhausts himself from screaming and throwing stuff is probably how he will go after his enemies, and that list is getting really long. Unfortunately he has ties to American and international gangsters and a large supply of brainwashed dimwits who want Trump's approval. He can still cause harm.

(3,348 posts)What is the most likely event to start the fire? Indictment or Conviction. I would argue that it would be someplace in between after he's seen the writing on the wall.
Then what would "burning everything down" look like? Was she being hyperbolic? Not sure, but I don't think so.
To me, his irrationality knows no bounds. I can't conceive a point where he figuratively says OK,OK, OK that's it. I'm done.
I feel like we should take a minute to enjoy the W, but IMO Whatever "burning everything down" means could and I mean could, start much sooner.
