When you commit a crime, crimes, it is best you do not get caught with a lot of other people. The less people involved with you in the crime the better. Less people to turn on you and confess.
If you count the fake electors, trumps lawyers, Trumps inner circle in the Whitehouse house, Trumps inner circle outside the White house we are looking at over a hundred people who were part of the attempted coup. That's a lot of targets for prosecutors. The DOJ has a bullseye on all of them. A lot of targets to get to turn, to spill their guts in order to save their asses.
All these traitors just witnessed the J6 committee put forward 4 serious criminal referrals that come with long prison sentences. They all now know what possible charges they could be facing. They are now shitting their pants.
Out of over a hundred traitors, the chances of the DOJ getting some of these traitors to talk, to turn, is extremely high. A lot of people are going to be indicted and some of them are going to turn, make deals. The investigations are going to snowball, I have been saying it from the beginning.
Fuck Trump, Fuck all the traitors. Justice is coming.

(21,774 posts)put down conspiracy theories always point out that a conspiracy can't be pulled off without someone involved in it being caught or or leaking it, even if inadvertently. And once that happens, things snowball in the legal system.
Nixon found that out.
The J6 conspiracy was real, involving too many people to keep the deliberate, advance planning of it a secret. The chief conspirator was foolish enough to think that he could play his part out in the open and if it failed, claim that it was just a demonstration that got out of hand. But too many close up observers came forward as witnesses for that excuse to be accepted.

Yes, one of the key aspects (in my opinion only) is that Trump was sure he could get away with it. He knew what
was going to happen, that is why he sat in front of a television watching the "Insurrection" and sure it would go
as he planned. It explains exactly why he was unwilling to say, "Go Home" to the "Insurrectionists"
because..........he was sure he was going to win this battle.. That explains it all. Why did he wait so long, and
sit in front of the TV not listening to anyone that urged him to make a statement.
Because he was sure he was going to ....WIN!....It ain't complicated...Is it?

(49,069 posts)I think there will be charges for the lower tier of the conspiracy all in one go, and then when that has settled out a bit with some plea bargains, charges for the upper tier including tRump in one go. That would also be any Congress critters and perhaps Meadows. I think Stone would be secretly disappointed if he is charged in the lower tier.
I think that is part of the reason upper level indictments haven't happened yet. Not only did DoJ want to let Congress do its investigation in parallel, but DoJ is not going to try a big conspiracy piece-meal.
But what the heck do I know? Maybe they will charge them one by one, banking on trials being far enough in the future that any stool pigeons would break in time. On the other hand, it would not surprise me to see the whole lot charged in one fell swoop.

(22,955 posts)friends desert him, and he faces not only the destruction of his family and businesses, but serious prison time. Try to remember that we are dealing with a hard core, pathological narcissistic, who becomes a hollow shell when no one believes him anymore, and everyone starts to ignore him. The Post writes that he can't summon a press pool, has no access to Airforce One (or even his own plane because it's in the shop), and is subject to rages because he can't do what he wants and is blocked at every turn. I'm going to enjoy watching Trump as the full realization of what he has done too himself begins to dawn in that feeble pea-sized organ some people call a brain.

(22,955 posts)employ and that take time. I for one am glad they have prosecuted so many of the traitors that participated directly in the violence of the attempted coup. For one thing, that is a warning to moron wannabes who will think twice about getting involved in a similar event in the future. Trump couldn't have accomplished a coup without violent foot soldiers. Meanwhile, those foot soldiers are all testifying that Trump ordered them to physically attack the Capitol and block the electoral process. The DOJ has collected countless hours of video, phone, email, and text messages that tie the actions of foot soldiers to orders from the conspirators at the top. That's solid evidence! When Barr was in charge, we couldn't depend on the DOJ to defend the country our the Constitution. Garland is doing both. "The wheels of Justice grind slow but exceedingly fine." I know it's hard for some the understand that building an airtight case involved time and patience.

There has been no testimony like that in the trials. Your are creating it.
Th vast majority of "foot soldiers" were charged with misdemeanors and have received probation or a very light jail sentence of a few days or weeks.

(1,568 posts)Look at a statue of Justice.
"Lady Justice" is female, draped in a robe, blindfolded, in one hand she holds a scale, in the other hand she holds a sword.
The blindfold tells us that Justice is blind to influences; the scale denotes that Justice weighs the evidence; and the sword . . . .
