Congressional co-conspirators are not properly named today. Jim Jordan, MTG, Hawley...etc etc MUST BE DENIED OFFICE under the 14th amendment. ENFORCE IT!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

(965 posts)You are correct. After today they will carry on as usual
ancianita
(36,216 posts)Do not make naming "ALL the traitors" the fault of the committee.
When you read their report the names will be there.
But for today's meeting, they rightly did NOT want to be interpreted as partisan. You can't even imply that it means they're not serious. They are. Their not naming names doesn't mean they're not aware, or that the DOJ is not aware of the legal liability of "and others," as stated at least three times out of the four referrals that Raskin revealed.

(965 posts)Patience is difficult when real results are so rare
ancianita
(36,216 posts)But "real results" are not "so rare." Because they have never existed.
This is the first in US history. There is not one legal precedent of "results" for you to kvetch about, okay?
Try to get that through your head.
Let's put the adult game face on, show adult patience and real perception enough and see the reality exactly what rule of law is dealing with -- which it has never dealt with before -- and try to accept that the other adults in charge do, in fact, know what to do. Without complete information. Because that all belongs in the DC Court.
Then impatience and distrust should dissipate.

But she protected Hawley, Cruz. McCarthy, McConnell, etc because a Cheney is going to be a Cheney and put party over country.
She was willing to sacrifice a few to save the party for her run for president in 2024.

(965 posts)It will take more than insults to bring him down... The J6 committee was a very good opportunity to expose his misdeeds. Their scope was far too narrow as usual

(36,216 posts)Just stop it already. Until you read the Jan 6 Final Report, this shade casting on the Jan 6 Committee is unfair, uninformed and silly.

ancianita
(36,216 posts)Yes, time will tell. This is a lot to take in. We must not entertain thoughts of failure.
To keep in mind that it's always darkest before the dawn isn't just a platitude, but in this situation, a fact.
We will prevail. Justice will prevail.

(965 posts)A sociologist friend recently promoted "optimistic pessimism". This way we can avoid disappointment. I'd prefer to punch the problem in its face... just saying
ancianita
(36,216 posts)True about personal things, yes. I'd just like to share that I've always said that I'd rather be a wrong pessimist than a wrong optimist.
Of course I've entertained doubts in private, but in the public arena, at this time, we need to and project more heart. It's not time to worry yet.

(37,150 posts)And not to make lite of the issue but occasionally a dab of humor may be in order.
We all have to be like great big hospitals and have lots of patients. That joke is so bad its good. And yall know it. Most of you will tell that joke tomorrow. Am I right or what?
Let there be no doubt I want every bad guy in trumps January 6th treasonous gaggle to meet Justice accordingly.

(36,216 posts)My friend, if these nine people have been working to exhaustion for eighteen months -- even as we speak -- and as we later enjoy our holidays -- is humor really in order when it casts doubt on them?
No. It is not in order. Rather than indulge in silly complaint or shade casting about not getting what.ever. from them, we as Democrats have a duty to step up and support them.
How are we to project trust, patience and strength in saving democracy or with others if we don't with each other? I'm with the OP, but say that the door has opened a LOT.

(21,756 posts)I watched the hearing on PBS. Their correspondent in DC had read that report prior to the hearing but did not discuss it until afterward. .
She revealed that Jim Jordan is specifically named in the written preliminary report as one of the House members who will be sanctioned by the House.
She also named the 4 people being referred to DOJ along with the ex president. I remember 3 of the names. They were Mark Meadows, Rudy Giuliani, and Eastman. The 4th, whose name I don't remember, is an attorney.
In addition, she said that the report mentioned another charge that was not mentioned in the hearing. It was seditious conspiracy. She did not know why it was not brought up in the hearing. Maybe the members changed their minds about it after the preliminary report was written.
Personally, I want to see all members of Congress who participated charged for their part. But that's not likely to happen. They do have a legal right to challenge the electoral slates that are presented for the official tally. Normally, a challenge comes from members of the state being challenged. But on J6, 2021 House members, with the required backing of at least one Senator, challenged states that they do not represent or live in. That is suspicious of conspiracy but in and of itself, is not illegal. To prove a conspiracy to overthrow the election via this challenge process would require concrete evidence (a tape, witness, text messages) of plans (conspiracy) for the specific purpose of overthrowing legitimate electors. There probably is no tape or witness willing to testify.
Anyone in Congress who participated in the fake elector scheme should be prosecuted, IMO. Ditto for anyone who knew about the fake elector plan and remained silent, even if they did not directly participate. But I don't expect that this will happen.

(2,870 posts)including the congressional names. I missed the first hour of the hearing. Thought perhaps I missed it then, but no... they just didn't go that far, drat it. Until we get the traitors out of Congress, I can't help but feel we're still playing with fire with our democracy. And neither my stomach nor my nerves are going to settle down anytime soon.

(25,990 posts)If that's not been investigated or addressed at all, it's huge mistake. There is an OATH to protect the Constitution against all enemies, both foreign and domestic. In this instance, to ignore those members of Congress who have acted as enemies is to abrogate that oath.

(16,630 posts)The full report (which comes out Wednesday, I think?) will have a LOT more details. Including, I am sure, many names.
Until then, we won't know for sure what it does or doesn't contain. Panic about what may be left out is highly premature.
