and the IRS let him get away with it. That's my take. The IRS is in cahoots with Trump.

Wonder what would happen to me if I claimed a million dollar deduction with no paperwork?

They've been understaffed for years. They don't have to be in cahoots with anyone to do nothing about their taxes.

4.8.4.2.4 (03-12-2015)
Audit of President and Vice President
The individual tax returns for the President and the Vice President are subject to mandatory review and will be closed directly to the "employee audit reviewer" in Baltimore Employee Audit Contacts. See IRM 4.2.1.15 (8), Processing Returns and Accounts of the President and Vice President. The "Other" box in the "Forward to Technical Services" section of Form 3198 must be checked, and the examiner should notate "President (or Vice President) Examination, Forward to South Atlantic Area Technical Services Legacy Baltimore" . The examining area will notify the group manager for the Baltimore Technical Services when the return is being shipped. Baltimore Technical Services will provide advance notice to Memphis Centralized Case Processing (CCP), "Miscellaneous Group" , when the return is being closed.
The location of the returns of the President and Vice President will be monitored at all times throughout the examination process.
The returns should always be kept in an orange folder.
The returns should not be exposed to viewing by other employees.
The returns should be locked in a secure drawer or cabinet when the examiner or reviewer is away from the work area.
See IRM 4.8.4.2.3.3(1) (a) and (b) for key points to remember during the review of the returns.

So the IRS intentionally violated the law? I doubt the report.

Apparently some were started. That is one of the reasons why the committee had a legislative interest in the matter—whether IRS oversight needs change.

Surely a lawyer is not surprised to learn that occasionally the law is not followed in the US.

They have a special team that does it for every president and VP. I doubt these people decided to take a few years off.

The links are all quoting one another so that does not mean much.

They say there was "limited" audits. Whatever that means. Any audit is limited. If it was unlimited it would never end by definition.
