(32,884 posts)Biden wants to help Ukraine, I'm sure we all do, or most of us anyway. However Joe Biden is also bound by the rules of NATO and our other treaty alliances. The US cannot be seen as helping Ukraine to escalate this war. We are their partner in defense only. Putin is a bully and a menace, and he must be stopped. Ukraine will defend themselves with our help, and hopefully the Russian forces are going to pull back and LEAVE Ukraine in a short time.

(32,991 posts)Whatever happens to Russia is not nearly enough. We should be doing a lot more. Just because this isnt here doesnt mean its okay. If people think that cant happen here, youre not paying attention.

(13,942 posts)before WW2.. they thought appeasement would avert war.. Ahhh no.
In retrospect the west should have stopped putin when he annexed Crimea. That only gave putin proof he could just walk in and take Ukraine.. Then Moldova, then Slovakia? then Poland? then the Baltic states?
At some point you have to say no. stop here and go back... Ukraine is the line in the sand..
