(2,236 posts)under 10 lb., but when you come face to face with one they look bigger than that. They have kind of pudgy bodies, which is why the sound of them hitting the ground is so shocking, and you can't help but assume they went splat. I don't know how, but they don't die or get hurt when they fall.
They don't jump up and run off after they fall, just lie there for awhile, which is another reason you think they are dead. Interesting critters.

(2,408 posts)But I know when opportunity knocks. When 15 lb freezer-stockers start falling from the trees, I know to stock my freezer. The don't call it "Chicken of the Trees" for nothing.
I'd be out there picking them up. And getting them out of uniform and into a new, shrink-wrap home.
(On a serious note... the iguanas in Flori-duh are big enough to cross terminals on transformers and power substations and cause blackouts and equipment damage.)

(315 posts)I remember thinking how similar it was to a chicken curry; if I hadnt known beforehand, I would have assumed it was a chicken curry.

(19,297 posts)I told her I'm going on an iguana safari. They literally have guided hunts where you go out and shoot as many as you can in a day, since they're an invasive species there. Then you eat them!

(50,590 posts)When you hear the thump of one of these hitting the ground, do you just grab the thing and decapitate it while it's still frozen before it gets the chance to wake up? That would seem to make the most sense, but then again I live in a place where it's too cold for iguanas.
