is on for the next 24 hours on TBS & TNT.
The person who wrote the story, Jean Shepherd, graduated from my high school Hammond High in Indiana. He narrates the story and appears as the gentleman who tells Ralphie that the line, to see Santa, starts way back there.
The fictional city of Hohman is actually a street in Hammond and Higbie's Department store is Goldblatt's which had the big display windows that they decorated just like in the movie.
They mention the Chicago Bears, and a city southeast of Hammond called Griffith.
Harding Elementary School, where Flick got his tongue stuck on the poll is on Cleveland St. in Hammond and is the street Ralphie lives on, in the movie.
The movie was filmed in Cleveland, which I find as a weird coincidence.
Enjoy the movie and have a Merry Christmas, everyone.
Here are a few scenes from the movie.

(86,880 posts)Looked a lot like Nathaniel Hawthorne School in Brunswick, Maine! And many neighborhoods looked similar back then.
